Default Turn the key...nothing!

Yesterday, I started prepping the bike for a little ride and bike wouldn't start. Had some power (i.e., lights went on, gages swept), starter wouldn't turn; did hear some clicking from underneath (starter solenoid?). Heard buzzing from General Relay; after research on the DML, figured that was it. Found suitable replacement at Napa (P/N AR274, for those interested). Installed and still nothing.

Battery charger says the batt is good. Fuses are good (even the 40-A up front). I'm off to Schuck's to buy a multitester now.

Any thoughts on where to start looking?

+1, try to put another battery and see if it works. I would have said the relay.

the ground bolt connected to the engine case has a tendency to loosen up. tighten down and try again.

I don't think it is the starter solenoid.

When mine when out the starter continued to run even though the bike had started. Had to pull the battery to get it to stop.

+1 had the same pathology and went immediately under the seat to the solenoid/starter relay because it was the thing making sickly noises...

turned out to be a loose positive terminal connection at the battery

Ground bolt is tight. Either this $20 multimeter is a piece of shit, or my battery is completely kaput. It reads nada, zero, zilch, zip!!! Shit, guess I'll see who's got a battery on a Monday.

Oh, and, thanks guys; I appreciate the differential diagnosis. Those fuckers over at DML purposely made their site crash so I couldn't do a search in the Tech section...I just know it. hehehe

It is a little known and rarely discussed fact that sometimes pissing on your bike will get it going

I know. Most bike shops are closed on mondays and sundays out here; it's their "weekend". One Duc shop across the water is open today, but the bike shop just North of me is open, as well.

I heard that too, also pissing in your fuel tank gives you added octane...
