Well, as you stated yesterday, nothing says fun like a 4v Ducati.......
I spent the afternoon cleaning up the bike and removing stupid pieces that are just worthless:
1. Ugly fly screen - gone
2. rear passenger pegs - gone
3. rear side panels - gone
4. Mickey Mouse ears - gone
This is one bad ass bike. I am getting used to the power and the delivery, and of course the dry clutch is a lot different then the wet on my 750. The suspension is much better then my 750, corners and handles much better. However, it is in serious need of a steering damper. I have talked with Chris@cyclecat, so hopefully I can get one in the next day or so (I can just drive over and pick it up!). Since I am vertically challenged, Motogpfan is going to help me lower the rear on the bike this weekend.
Here are some before and after pictures

After a few hours of dicking around, this is what it looks like:
Note: that fucking fly screen was the biggest motherfucker to get off.
I thought Ducati might actually make bolts accessible on newer bikes, but I was sure wrong. Still hard as fuck to get to some.
Sorry Gregor, no panties. But a group of chinese dudes were checking it out, pointing, and giving thumbs up

Nice pics. Damn nice bike. I was amazed, the first time I rode a 4-v, at how similar the power delivery was to my Monster...just lots more of it.

I am getting used to the delivery more and more as I ride it. It is a little intimidating, not going to lie about that.
This is my first Ducati with a tach on it.
Getting used to actually looking at it to shift gears.
The bike is screaming around 6k, but if I shift at that point, it lugs in the next gear.

I hear you. Funny story: I had been riding about 3 months when my wife (then-girlfriend) offers to let me rider her 916 home from the restaurant. Talk about intimidating; this was her "baby". I was so focused on not fucking up, not stalling it, not wheelying it. I went to pull out of the parking lot and I COULD NOT REMEMBER HOW TO GET HOME. It was like I had tunnel vision, it was crazy. She led out on my Monster; once I got the feel for the friction point on the clutch lever I was fine. Crazy power, for sure.
Keep the revs high on that bitch. That's where it likes to be.

just be careful dude. my 996 is still intimidating a year later. acceleration is explosive to the point of getting that feeling like you're on a rollercoaster (in the guts).
and it's not hard to get the front end up when just do 90 degree turns from a stop. and i'm not a stunta, or even have aspirations to be a stunta.

+1, I too get scared from my 996.
Cyrus, the lightness you feel in the front is most likely from the suspension unloading during acceleration.
you'll get used to it, you stunta you

i am guilty of the sin of euphemism. 'intimidating' connotes faultlessness, and is just another word for 'almost shit my diddies'.
scared, is more just.
