Default BMW GS1150 Adventure

Ok, as the title says, I have a question about this bike.

A friend from home called and has been looking for a BMW for quite a while.

He found a 2002 BMW GS1150 Adventure (has all the bags, etc) with 45,000 miles, all service performed, good condition.

Seller wants 8500$ for the bike.

Good deal?

If he wants to become a part of the ass-ramming nation that is BMW owners. Sorry, I have no love for these bikes. It's a hippie bike.

I agree the BMW owner group is VERY weird, but whatever.

Is that a good price?

Did you check kbb.com?

I wouldn't give a used condom for a BMW. Why the fuck are you asking me?

I checked all the local WA, OR dealers and there aren't any similar used ones to compare against.

I then checked Cycletrader and similar year GS1150 Adventures will less than 20,000 miles seem to be going for ~10K. Models with >35,000 miles seem to be going in the mid- to high 8K range.

KBB says ~$8,500 is the low end of retail for that bike.

So...sounds like a decent deal, but not a smokin' one. Having all the bags would be a plus as those are spendy. I'd say it's a good deal if that's what he really wants...they seem to be a little hard to find...at least in the PNW.

My boss rides an 1150GS and loves it. Doesn't think he'll ever own another type of bike as a primary ride...if that point of view helps at all.

good info, thanks JJ.

I spoke with Motogpfan and he pretty much said the same thing about the price on that bike. Good deal, but not a smoking deal.

thanks everyone. Consider this topic closed.

You are so not a heterosexual. You've seen 'Jerry Maguire', but you've never seen 'Fight Club'? TKA probably had to move to Florida so you would stop wearing her dresses.
