Default Alcohol...and its effects

So, I'm drinking tequila tonight. I've been drinking margueritas for the past couple nights trying to fuel my creativity to finish a blog article I'm writing. However, I'm noticing that it's not helping. That got me thinking about how different alcohols affect me, and I'm wondering if others notice the same.

Red wine makes me into a voracious flirt, very horny, and very chatty (not my norm); thus, I abstain unless with my wife (trust me, it's better for all involved). Beer doesn't do much for me; it usually compounds my morose nature. I also don't like beer because it makes me feel bloated and I gain weight. Rum sparks me up...ready to party. Vodka and whisky make me very talkative and contemplative, as well as philosophical. I usually do my best writing after a few drinks with vodka or whisky.

How about you guys/gals?

P.S. Oh, if you want to read my blog, it's at http://westwardthehills.blogspot.com

I hear you on that one. Two beers is my limit, as well; one, usually, if I'm driving.

I prefer dropping acid or shooting heroin.

I become very creative and think I am master of the free world.

Point taken Cyrus. However, there are supply issues and legalities to consider.

Apparently you don't know the right people.

I can score any number of drugs with one phone call and a 5 minute ride/drive from my house.

The only problem is when I ride, I can't test out the product. I shot up some smack about a year ago and rode home.

Well, that is why I don't have my 1995 Yamaha Seca and that is now why I have a Duc.

Alcohol is alcohol. Doesn't matter how it's delivered. As long as it's on time...

I don't find that the form makes much difference for me. I don't much like beer, although I may have one or two if it's a good stout or porter. I do enjoy wine, although it's more a taste thing. Even in college, I wasn't much for drinking to get drunk.

I also quite enjoy good whiskies (Scotch, Irish, bourbon, etc.), and am starting to get into good sake. I'm not so wild about brandy, gin, tequila, rum, vodka, etc, although I'll drink any of those if a high quality version is available. My father makes a serious high-powered whisky-and-rum-fueled eggnog for holidays; I do like that.

I do tend to get a bit silly when tipsy, and start to sort of free-associate and come up with random non-sequiturs. I rarely get very drunk. Like my mom, and her father, I seem to have inherited an effective immunity to hangovers; none of the three of us have ever had one. So that's nice.

I've also been making fruit wines for 25 years or so. I've made lots of plum wine, as well as orange, apricot, mead, kumquat, blueberry, raspberry, rose petal, and pomegranate.

No fuckin' way, it's Phil fuckin' Bee!

I feel like we're all floating through a bizarre, transcendent DML afterlife.

My palette is not refined enough, nor my choice of beverage nuanced, for me to discern between any alcohol's relative effect on my brain. If I drink a lot, I get drunk. I'm a brute.

Marijuana, however, is quite different....although I've given up the reefer for all intents and purposes. I haven't smoked in nearly a year and have no plans to return to its hazy realities. But I remember very vividly the different frames of mind I would encounter when I was high versus drunk.

But this is a thread about alcohol. So... apparently I have nothing to contribute.

Sorry.

Balls.
