Workin' Out
What do you do to stay in shape? It amazes me that there are large number of people who don't do anything. If I'm not active, I turn into a slug and shit starts hurting.
I mountain bike once or twice a week and have started running again. I do a lot of core exercises to combat some hereditary back/neck issues. I'm also planning on training MMA once I get my IRS refund back.

Funny you should say MMA, once I move to Florida, Tiffers and I are going to start doing that.
She might do boxing, though.
However, I want to get into MMA training. I don't want to fight or anything, just want the workout.

I make sure I spend part of nearly every day bracing myself against a 90+ mph headwind on an unfaired motorcycle.
Seriously, different people have different needs for staying in shape, depending on heredity, age, history, etc. I find that riding regularly, and working bits of exercise into my daily activities, like taking the stairs instead of the elevator, etc., works well for me. My wife needs a much more directed and strenuous exercise program, so she works out at a CrossFit gym four days a week.

Cyrus - Cool, man. Whose gym, do you know? As luck would have it, there is a gym not far from my home owned and run by a UFC fighter.
Phil - That Crossfit is serious stuff.

Yes it is. She's working out with a lot of Navy SEALS, LEOs, firemen, etc. At first she was a bit upset because she wasn't losing weight, however even though she's gained 5 pounds, she has gone down two jeans sizes. In 4 months so far, she's turned 20 pounds of fat into 25 pounds of muscle. A good additional effect is that she now feels fit and ready enough to take the MSF course and get on the road on her own bike. That's a hooray.

I would probably drop to light weight, but not much of a desire to fight.

Me neither. Sparring would be cool, though: 3/4 speed with pads and shit.

So, you don't do anything for cardio?

Tiffers enjoys boxing. She finds it a lot more enjoyable then working out and lifting weights.
Nick is actually afraid to spar with her, he might get his ass bea

I can see that. When I was lifting a lot, and had a good partner, it was great. Once the partner started to flake, I lost 90% of my interest in going to the gym. Going to MMA, it's a class of people who want to be there so, you always have partners to train with. And, the gym I'm looking at requires a 3 month commitment, minimum; which I also like.

What's MMA?
There's a martial arts place that looked cool, but I'm not sure I have the time. Looks like it a more practical application then some which looked good to me. http://www.newkungfu.com/
I currently go to the gym 3-4 times a week...the Gold's by your house G'mac. Gyms suck, but I start feeling skinny if I don't go!

No, I don't. I have a hereditary heart condition that actually makes cardio exercise risky for me, so I keep that carefully limited. For most people, cardio exercise is a good idea. For me, it's not.
