How do you feel about muslim US military members now?

Let me start off by saying that i MYSELF am originally from Pakistan and come from a Muslim family so its not like im bashing something i dont understand. However that being said i also know the kind of sick mentality my people have and to what extents they will go to in order to accomplish their twisted goals (main reason why my family moved to the US when i was a kid).

Im sure not every muslim in the US military right now is a terrorist however all these people do need to be put through a thorough background check again and see what they are upto. I fear if this is not done a lot more harm can be caused. Why? Because these men are trained by the US military and compared to the typical taliban and Al qaeda terrorists they are a lot more dangerous and capable of causing a lot more destruction than the ones from there. Lets hope and pray those with such intentions are caught before they put their repulsive plans into action. RIP to the innocent men and women who died.

How many mailmen go on these kinds of rampages compared to head with muslims who kill innocent people? I understand some dont want to profile only muslim soldiers because of the fear of lawsuits but they can always run new backgrounds checks on all foreigner military personnel to see if anyone is upto this kind of stuff.

the minute we, as a country, begin to "profile" ANYONE for ANY REASON then it no longer becomes the land of the free, home of the brave and the land of equal opportunity. Some may argue that this is already the case but nevertheless as much we can not allow such radical behavior mold who we are individualy, as a society or as a country. If you want a thorough background check on an individual then require it on ALL people not just those with potentially muslim heritage. Hell white people have done just as much crazy stuff throughout history but we aren't performing "thorough" background checks on them.

Remember stereotypes are usually there because to a certain extent they are true. Like black people who live in low income areas being shady and involved in illegal activities. Jewish people who are very cheap and stingy and now muslims who come to this country and want all the good stuff America has to offer but refuse to leave behind their backward way of thinking. These stereotypes definitely dont apply to everyone but lets face it. They are true whether you like it or not. And i understand your point of applying the same rules to everyone but sometimes you have to have common sense and try to protect your country and fellow people instead of constantly worrying about being politically correct.

Well, we can choose to treat people based on fear and what we believe to be the worst in them, or we can treat people conversely. Personally, as an American, I believe we should conduct ourselves on the basis of the latter. Islam is the biggest religion on the planet. That's a whole lot of people, the vast majority of whom, I believe, are like anyone else, they want to just live their lives in peace.

As a personal aside, I was really proud of my neighborhood here in Seattle in the days following 9/11. There is a fantastic Afghani restaurant and you couldn't get a table it was so packed with people eating there to show the owners support and to let them know they weren't going to be blamed.

The biggest problem I see with his actions is instead of in some way helping his peoples reputation, he set them back further. He basically reinforced everyones beliefs about muslims, again, and just added another reason to the bucket on why we shouldn't trust them.

Whats stupid about being honest? My people are fucked up and if you dont watch out for their actions they will keep killing thousands of "Your" innocent people. And your idiot liberals will try to stay politically correct and let them die. There is a reason why so many of us leave our native countries to move here. I hate to sound daft, but those idiot liberals are also your idiot liberals. Our "innocent" people are your innocent people. If you live in this country then those that live in and serve this country are FIRST and FOREMOST your people.

I think EVERYONE in the military should be subject to backround checks. There was a Gangland episode that mentioned gang members joining the military. It's not about heritage or race, it's about people being trained by the armed forces to be soldiers, and how to kill. Anyone receiving that type of training should be checked.
