Default Insurance on my bike

Ok, My home of record is in California and my bike is registered there, but im stationed in NC, can i get insurance in NC if its cheaper or do i need to insure it in california?

You should be able to insure where you are , most companies will insure you if you away from home vacationing but it might also depend on how long your gone too . Really have to make some calls around to find out for sure about that one

You are supposed to insure it in the state it is "garaged" or in other words where it is the majority of the time.

Even though I'm a VA resident, my wife is military and she is a MI resident, we live in CA right now. My bike is registered in MI and plated with MI plates, but insured in CA. Same goes for my truck.

i havent checked out other states yet but is california generally more expensive?

For a bike it is becuase it is not considered a seasonal driven vehicle. When I was in Wyoming I had to pay by the year and now that I livein CA I have to pay every six months. Basicly I pay about 2x as much for insurance in CA.

My bike insurance went down moving from VA to CA (not much like $30 a year.)
