Maybe pull-ups? My buddy who was in 1st Recon told me that just about every day at Pendleton they did 50s/150s. 50 pull ups and 150 push ups!

see if you can get into a gym that specializes in muscle stamina(jujitsu, wrestling ect..). activities that will improve muscle endurance as well as increase your lung capacity, plyometrics ect.. good luck man!
I'm not feeling it. Sorry, but a buddist in the family doesn't make you open-minded. It just means you're bangin' a buddist.

I knew enough Recon boys when I was still in..it's alot like our Ranger and SF Q course.
Honestly it won't come down to PHYSICAL fitness. Sure, it helps to be in good shape, but every guy I ever saw drop in our courses wasn't physical (not counting serious injuries where they had no choice to be recycled / dropped)...it was mental.
Also depending on your build / frame / metabolism, it might not be a bad idea to try to put on a few extra pounds...they will be gone fast.
And the one that no one thinks about...
SLEEP!!!! AS MUCH AS YOU CAN NOW....because forget getting any rack time that's worth a shit
I would say work on endurance as much as you can. Hit the O-course. When I say hit it, I mean multiple times in a training session. By training session, I mean after you have ran 5 miles in boots and utes; with a rubber duck and light alice pack......after you have "breaststroked", "sidestroked", and swam to the shore that's 1000 meters away. It would help if you start conditioning your body to work off of less sleep.
+1 on gaining weight.
Pick up a couple of good books too. "Flags of Our Father", "The Old Breed", "Gates of Fire", "Starship Troopers"....you know....stuff like that to get you mentally tough.

If I'm not mistaken indoc is 24 hours for force recon, battalion recon ain't worth a shit so don't worry about that. Starship troopers and flags of our fathers is an awsome idea, mental is a big thing people over look. During that 24 hours you will never stop moving and you should never stop thinking. Try staying up for two days and doing math problems, solving riddles, memorizing cadences and such. The only thing I've heard about indoc is that they absolutley hate boot motherfuckers; if the 3 months is right after bootcamp try waiting six more, you can train more and they might actually not try to make you fail instead of trying to convince you to fail. Good luck bro, Semper Fi.
Are you 'contract recon'? Do they still have that? I suggest that you do NOT go contract recon, unless you dont mind turning 'open contract'. Go ahead and ask me why I say that.

Lemme guess ? You got stuck with some shit job ?
I know in the Navy, a lot of guys who signed for SEALS/BUDS contracts ended up as deck swabs after they failed out.
Half of the "aux" division on my boat were nuclear training failures. Aux division is the shittiest work on a submarine.
It was something like that. Out of the 196 guys or so that went up for it only 2 made it. And this wasn't the endoc. This was some screening before the endoc. I definately believe its a scam to get more open contracts.
I ended up with a decent job because I scored well on the ASVAB but a lets just say that those additional open contracts quickly filled up the school for cooks. They sent about a dozen or so of us to 29 Palms for electronics and the VAST marjority were going to become cooks. There were 5 or 6 people that were sent to places other than cool school or electronics.
So my job was actually pretty easy and that had its perks (Air Conditioning, and a 'somewhat' relaxed atmosphere) but I didn't exactly join the Corps for something easy. *shrugs*
Just dont go contract. If you want to go recon then enlist 03xx and just take the endoc. Thats my 2 cents.
