Default will military pay for spouse to take msf course?

I am in between duty stations so I figured I'd throw my question here on the boards, I want to have my wife take the MSF course and was trying to find out if the Marines will reimbursed me for it...?

if you pay for it they will not reimburse you for it since they provide these courses for military and DoD personnel who ride on base.

www.cnrswtrafficsafety.com

i am 99.9% sure they provide this course for the marines as well.

also, with this course, your spouse will not be allowed a loaner bike, she has to provide her own (or at least that's what they say ...)

Could have sworn I took the course with dependents on the MSF course I went to...Navy. I'm not sure how standardized everything is though.

it's pretty much standard now that spouses CAN take the military MSF course. it's just in the southwest region, they are not allowed a loaner bike. i guess they don't have the funds to supply bikes for many students.

Granted this was in 2002 but the base down at Imperial Beach used to have their own bikes.

they have a few bikes (they had an old buell, and two tw 250s during my oct 2006 class), but they recently changed their policy that only active duty and dod personnel are allowed loaner bikes.

If she takes the class downtown she will not have to provide her own bike. Talk to the installation safety office about getting her signed up. I do not think it is too expensive like 30 bucks last I heard.

i'll find out what they do for it at pendleton...i cannot believe that they would have to pay for it considering to even ride onto base to BASE HOUSING they would have to have it registered AND have a MSF card....

As far as I know dependents do not have to have a MSF card to ride on bases only active duty. That may be only for Air Force. It is recommended for dependents but not required.

On base here ALL who ride have to take the MSF course, on base or off base, just as long as you have the card... its free on base but they don't supply bikes
