I know someone that is going to be a TAC at LDAC. Be on the lookout for a DAT MAJ from Vermont...I think the isolation and dealing ROTC cadets for the last couple years has driven him insane.

I did the whole Ft Lewis thing as a cadet 10 years ago (good LORD!! I am getting old). Back then it was 7 weeks long but actually pretty fun. The Land Nav course was pretty tough, I think they have really scaled it down though. Recondo is not much more than a day long smoke session, but again pretty fun if you like that sort of thing. Not sure if they are still on the blue/green/yellow card system, but don't sweat it, just enjoy your time there, learn a few things and get a follow on school if you can. By the end there should be plenty of CTLT, Airborne and Air Assault slots up for grabs so take advantage of them.

Yeah... it's changed quite a bit. The whole thing is now just under 5 weeks. Day land nav is easy but night time is going to suck because they decided to do away with chem lights... So far the results haven't been too promising, something like a 50% failure rate. All the CTLT slots were given out before camp and since I'm going so late I only have 2 weeks before school starts when I get back which means no schools for me. The hardest part is gonna be parking my new bike for 5 weeks

So I'm back... I survived the treacherous ant hills of Ft. Lewis. I swear that place is a government science experiment gone wrong. I have pictures to prove it...

Anyways... I got my pilot slot for the NY National Guard. It's like the next step up from motorcycling... Any bets on how many years before I actually get to go to flight school?

Ah yes, the famous Ft Lewis ants...Those fuckers were mean as hell and heaven help you if you somehow disturbed one of those hills. Not only would the ants kick your ass, but they were environmentaly protected so we lived in fear of the EPA coming down to hand out fines after one of those hills caught fire somehow (we blamed the TACs with their pyro of course)
Ah, Memories

Oh and the Army is hurting pretty bad for pilots so you might get that flight school slot sooner than you think. Good luck

Hey... I just joined the forum and was skimming when I heard my name...err rank.. being called...

I went to LDAC this summer. 8th reg. Automatic Steel. Camp was a piece of cake, at least I thought so. Easy E.

I was looking to get MI but the OML just came out and it looks like I won't be able to get it without doing an ADSO... which I don't want to do. Probably going to branch engineers or ordnance instead.
