Default Getting booted

Alright, well, I've been in the navy for 4 years and 3 months. I started developing some mental health issues and I'm going for an interview tommorrow with a Master Chief (E-9) to find out what's going to happen to me. If I get kicked it's going to be an Admin discharge (medical), I've been told that will severly limit my choises of jobs by some people and that it won't have much effect on it by others and I have no idea who's right.
Anyone have any experience in the matter? I've been trying to find a job and it's not looking that great

what's your rate? Something like an admin discharge isnt a big deal, I've known people who got out on MUCH worse (other than honorable, dishonorable), and they didnt have much problems finding decent jobs. That's just been my experience, I guess it is hit or miss, I dont really know.

Mental health issues?? Come on over to the Marines, you'll fit in just fine!

I think it just affects firearm ownership as there is a question that pertains to having mental health issues. That's the only way I can see it affecting you is if you apply for a job that entails carryin a firearm.

It all depends on what kind of background check that a prospective employer does on you and what they are looking for.

I'll give you an example. I work in the IT field and over 90% of the jobs I have held I dealt with sensitive or confidential materials. Anything other than an honorable discharge from the military has the "potential" to raise a red flag.

You probably won't be able to get a job requiring a security clearance either.

Well, I went to go and see the master chief today and they're recommending me for retention. So, I'll see how this plays out. They told me that they'll probably grant me leave so that I can go home and try to sort out as much of this as I can before it leads to even bigger issues.
Thanks

Go home. Take a few days (they wont give you much more) come back. Suck it up and let it take you to your EAS. Everything can affect you adversely nowadays. I hope (and pray) that your will solve your issues and can finish with an honorable discharge.

Fair winds and following seas shipmate

PS - You have an EXCEPTIONALLY cool Master Chief, don't let him (or her) down

not sure if i'd classify your master chief as cool but i know what iwakuni and union jack mean. is this master chief you refer to your CMC? either way, this master chief seems to have made this decision intelligently and taking in account all aspects, which is how a member of the upper chain should make decisions.

take the leave, relax, sort things out, and don't let whatever is going on interfere with your performance. when is your schedule EAOS?

They can only share thats its an admin discharge. They cant disclose the fact that you are crazy jk... You can bullshit whatever employers with a bad knee, back, violated your contract, family issues, anything. They will never know unless you are applying for a job with the CIA, FBI, or sum shit then they will dig deeper...

I would also talk with a chaplain about what you are experiencing.

That is if you haven't done so already.
