Default rant against my duty section

sorry for the rant, but my wife is out with her friends and i need to vent.

i've been tad to class for the last 6 1/2 weeks and my first day back to work will be tomorrow (keep in mind i have not been in contact with anyone from my command while i've been tad to school). i just received a call from the on-duty watch leader and they inform me that i have the first quarterdeck watch!

i am so glad they called me b/c if they didn't i wouldn't have showed up for watch!!!!

i wonder why my duty section leader didn't call and let me know this? i don't mind doing my duty, but assigning me the first watch my first day back to work while i've not been able to stay in touch with my command while tad? what is that?

ugh.

Think of it as their way of welcoming you back lol....Man it always seems to work that way...I always knew coming back from TDY or Leave that I would find myself on the 24hr Staff Duty roster for that upcoming Friday or Saturday

I hated those kind of watches. The only duty I stand right now is EMT duty, and its not a bad deal at all. The only downside is getting woken up at 12 in the morning for a suicide attempt..staying up all night dealing with that, and then maybe getting half an hour of shut-eye before getting up for a full work day.

Not often at all. To be honest, I've gone 3 or 4 duties without any runs at all, and then other times I've had 5 calls during working hours. And then sometimes we just get random calls during the middle of the night, some of them serious, some of them not. Those all-night ordeals dont happen too often, weve had suicide attempts, and then random stuff like someone destroying 20 thousand dollars worth of equipment on an airplane, and then having to do fit-for-duty physicals on everyone invovled all night long.
