Default On Orders

Off to 1st MAR Div Camp Pendleton! I was on orders since November MCRD San Diego but apparently that base was to good for my ass and I was reassigned 2weeks before I PCS to Camp Pendleton. Kinda crappy because the wife is a flight attendant and needs to be within 90mins(traffic or no traffic) of San Diego Airport.

I have a Motorcycle Safety Course that I took last august and my bike has a registered DOD decal till 09 I believe but I am pretty sure when you PCS your supposed to get a new base decal for whatever base your on and I have flushed in turn signals....is this going to be a problem? I shudder to think that it may be I hate when it comes down to the stupid little crap.

Can you contact the base safety office? I'm sure they could tell you.

Man it's no biggie. We have people with Pendleton and Yuma stickers here all the time. They are perm pers because they live in the bks but no one ever messes with the stickers. Pendleton might be different because it's the Marine Corps capital of the world.
Getting a new base sticker is easy anyway. Just go to PMO and say "I just PCS'd here and I need to change my sticker." Like anything else in the Marine Corps, if you got enough rank, they won't bother you.
Aren't you an MP anyway?

Yea I am an MP but I'm going to a field unit and well...Garrison Mp's sometimes dont care to be nice to field MP's I will see how it is over at pendleton very soon though.

Oh and I am a Garrison MP currently and I was a prick about making PCS'd Marines/Navy change their shit bc my XO would have our ass if it wasn't our base and they were perm pers possibly because my base is ridiculously small.

I think that is one of the dumbest things for military bases. WHY the fudge do you need to go and change your decal from one base to another when the larger DOD sticker is DOD wide and is in the DOD system, the only difference is the fact that it doesn't have the base you are assigned to on. Makes NO sense.

When I first got stationed out here in Hawaii I had San Diego stickers on, good for another year and the dumb ass gate guard wouldn't let me on base becaues it didn't say NAVSTA PEARL HARBOR

stupid.

Actually, the Air Force has moved away from issuing DOD stickers alltogether. It will save several hundred million dollars annually. What they do now is scan your CAC card at the gate.

It can be a bitch at peak times. It sometimes takes 15-20 minutes to get through in the morning. But that is due to increased security at the gate as well.

The sky cops use a battery powered hand held bar code scanner. It has a large display on the top, and I am told it brings up your picture and other pertinent info on you on the screen.

i think coronado is moving to the scanning cards as well.

they are reconstructing the traffic pattern onto the base for a bigger "better" main gate.

we'll see ... sometimes military engineers do not come up with designs that employ common sense.

With that said is there any point on even carrying my ID in the ID holder on my ICON vest? Its a pain in the ass to pull out everytime.

They scan the barcode on the front of the CAC card, so you shouldn't have to take it out of the holder. Although, I am unfamiliar with the ICON's actual configuration.
