Default anyone from Germany area??

I'm gonna be stationed in Ramstein Germany coming this july. I'm in the Air Force and work in Mental health. I was wondering about how my motorcycle addiction is going to survive over there? I also posted a loong post in the "other countries" section, so if anyone has any advice pleeease respond. thanks...

I just got stationed over here In DEC and the weather has started to warm up making for some awesome riding. I have mainly stuck to the local area ( I live in the village of Ramstein-Miesenbach and work in Kaiserslautern). The roads here are great, you can let it rip on the Autobahn (the A63 to Frankfurt is a nice fast road, A6 is nice but has a lot of traffic and speed zones) or go on the backroads and find some nice twisties with some great scenery right where you will probably live. I feel a bit safer riding over here as well...Cagers seem to pay better attention at least.

Before you get here, make sure you have your license (it will set you back about 500 Euro to get it here), they will make you take the MSF all over again but they offer it on a fairly regular basis. When you get your german DL, ask when the next course wil be and sign up...With luck you will be able to knock it out during headstart. Also apply for an international DL ($15, can go through AAA or do it over here), France is a 20 minute ride away but they will fine you out the freaking ass (again 500 Euro) if caught with just your DoD DL.

Glad to say that your addiction will thrive over here. Shoot me a PM if you need any info RE:Germany and getting over here. It will be from the Army side of things, but it is a "purple" community.

I can't offer much help, but if you can possibly get your bike/ride your bike there, do it! I was in Mannheim for a while in 02. Had a Ford Mondeo wagon up to 223 km/h on the autobahn and was still climbing before I had to slow down!

BTW- if any of you guys in Deutchland see the animal I called the "foxcat", PM me! My squad thought I was on drugs until a couple of other guys saw it also. Still don't know WTF it was...

Beware of the traffic cams. Very high resolution photos! There is one on the A6 east of Ramstein on the way to K-Town.
