Are we authorized to wear them?

So long as they cover the "over the ankle" requirement, they're fine. DH rides in his flight boots.

We were allowed to wear the tan and black Oakley with flight suits. Since they're not technically flame retardant, we weren't supposed to wear them flying though. I personally think the Oakley boots don't come up over the ankle high enough to be worn bloused with BDU's. Looks like S#%t.
I wear mine riding all the time in civilian clothes. The softer rubber is awesome to help prevent slipping.

Yeah I was talking about wearing them with my BDU's. Oh well...I was told that I might have to wear the ABU's by the end of the year anyways, so I'll hold off on any more purchases until I find out. Dry-cleaning is eating a hole in my pocket anyways.

You shouldn’t have to wear them. If you get deployed they may issue you some but the mandatory wear date for the ABU isn’t until fiscal year 2011.

I just got an e-mail saying that if you are not EOD or SF deploying on 7/8 you will not get them this year.

True, there are a few jobs that will get them. Weapons Intel, TAC-P, PJ's. Stuff like that too. I got them while i was here cause im a SF K-9 handler so... But they are thick. Kinda like winter weights! Not a big fan of them right now. I dont wear them right now cause i dont have the stripes or name tapes for them yet (smart right?). The only reason i might wear them when i get home is not to iron and shine anymore. When i finally wear them ill let you guys know.

eh....I was told by my chain of command that the 55th wing out of Offut tends to mandate things a bit earlier than the rest of the AF. Oh well.

Trust me they are they have 2 different heights. We are allowed to wear them here in our DCU's. It might be different for each command. I dont see how you can wear them in a flight suit though seeing how they dont have steel toes (I guess its a Navy only thing).

I personally wear 5.11 H.R.T.'s (Great for urban areas not tough terrain), most new people here are issued the Converse boots and a lot of people have bought Oakley's.
