This summer I will be going from Alaska to North Dakota. I was wondering if it would be possible to trailer my bike inside of a Uhaul trailer. We will be taking a small vacation in Minnesota and I would like to have it with me. Not to mention I have heard really bad things about letting the government ship it. It's going to be around a 3000 mile trip. Thanks for any help.

I drove mine 2700 miles from utah to miami in a tarped open trailer.
if you get that little UHual trailor there is a couple drings inside most of them on the floor, they are not that thick, too be the safest this is what I would do haveing used the uhual for my bike before.

get a front chock runs $2-300 but it will lock your tire iun and balance your bike, than canyon dance the handlebars to the Drings for a little extra support, and I went from my subframe out the bottom of the door to the bottom of the trailor

I brought two bikes with me when I moved up here from J-Actionville N.C. rode them up the ramp chocked them and tied them down through a tarp over the both of them and stacked boxes all around . No problems whatsoever.

I put two bikes inside a u-haul trailer when I went from South Carolina to California. I built a wooden frame inside to strap them too and then packed things in the remaining space. I worked great for me. If I had to do it again, that is how I would do it.

When I had my 'Hawk shipped down to Eglin five years ago, I had to file a $couple thousand claim against the shipper for strapping it to the side of the van with no blankets anywhere. Side fairings and engine cases were all scratched up. Not a happy day.

When i PCS'd from Cali to Texas there was no way i was letting them move my bike. I bought a trailer hitch for my van, rented a open bed UHaul trailer and towed it myself. Partial DITY move. Made a little money in the process too! Good luck with your move! Grand Forks huh... we have a new instructor coming from there soon and i have a buddy that will be going there from Moldy Hole this summer too!

I'm from southern Minnesota. But since I'm going to be there for at least five years tell me what you don't like about it. How many bikes are up there?

I was worried about leaving it on an open trailer when we stopped at hotels. I'm parinoid about that. Thanks for the good luck, I hope the road out of here will be easier then when we came in.
