anyone run through korea?

greetings all, i was passing by the shopping area right outside Osan AFB and a shop quoted me $475 for a 2 piece leather suit with pads... anyone know anything about the quality of those shops as far as gear is concerned? thanks in advance

no clue, but I have heard good things about the hand made korean products, I am sure if they are using quality leather it would be okay, but I would inform them that you want top quality stiching and than inspect their normal thread and the thread they want to use on your leathers.

other than that no clue maybe someone will post up that has had it done

I had a set made back in the day (1994) for $250. Guess prices have gone up Anyway, I got a one piece w/padding custom made at the shop right outside the gate on the left, and just past the two story bar (forgot the name of the joint). The suit lasted me a season of racing [GSXR 400RR Slingshot] in Japan (went on to Yokota AB after Osan). I tested the theory of how fast a cow is really meant to slide quite often (thank God for hay bales), and the suit stood up quite well. I also learned not to try and stand up while I'm tumbling on a race track, but that's quite another story....

I picked up a fakey Vansons leather jacket from a shop outside Osan AFB for about $150. Pretty decent quality. Not sure how it would hold it in a crash. I guess you can call it my Fashion Rider Jacket. I may get some pants made when I get there this weekend.

I bought a custom jacket for my busa right outside the back gate in Osan. I think it was $200 bones. I still have it and the leather and stitching is great. The armor sucks but I haven't had to really test it yet (knocks on wood).

Almost bought a official Yamaha jacket with CE protection in Itaewon $250.

This store only sells imported leathers, or made in Korea for apparel companies. I haven't checked out any custom places in Songtan/Osan, but I am sure it's good quality.

I haven't but my buddy picked up a couple jackets and a set of leathers from there. He said they were pretty good quality

I was there from 96-97. I had a couple suits made. The only advice anyone could give mi is to have them double stitch anything you have custome made. Their thread that they sew shit together with is of lesser quality than back here in the land of The Big PX
