Question BASE MSF Course

I am Aaron Reid a PR3 (Parachute Rigger /Petty Officer 3rd Class) in the Navy I served 8 years active and currently in the reserves at the Orlando, FL Reserve Center. I hope to make 2nd on the upcomming exam.

Anyway I was wondering if anyone knows if there is a base locally that offers the MSF Course, and if so when and/or who I would contact.

Thanks,

Aaron

You should be able to get a permissive TDY to MacDill AFB in Tampa or the Navy Base in Jacksonville

I did some research for you

http://nm.msf-usa.org/msf/ridercourses.aspx?state=FL

you can also look up your chain of command and they may just pay for/reimburse you to take it locally

Hey Rascus: where are you at in Hawaii... My last station was with VP-47 out of Hawaii. I was in Barabers Point, NAS then we moved to Kaneohe, MCB after my last deployment in 99/00.

like they said above...if the base your at doesnt have it, you can take it locally and the base/wing or what ever they call them in the Navy should repay you for it...at least thats the way the Air Force does it.

When I did mine it was run at the local community college and I recieved a chit from Base Education to take the class, normally like 100.00 I dont really remember, for free. Check out your base education office and see if they know anything about it.

Pretty much every base has the course and the schedule is usually put out base wide in the spring. BTW, I've got a lot of appreciation for you PR's. I'm an SK2(SW/PJ). Know of any bases that jump near Great Lakes? Trying to get some more in.

Thanks FKNMVN for the help,

I have not been to Great Lakes since 94 so I am not sure of any jumps locations there. If you come to Florida I know a few places here.

Wish I could be more help, I have a few friends stationed up that way I will try an get a hold of them and find out.

Thanks for the appreciation of your PR...
