I have been counting the days till I get out of the Marine Corps for nearly a year now. I did most everything I wanted except for getting out of country (weird, huh?). As I was talking to the career planner and CO the other day during my 1-year-to-go brief, Marine Security Guard duty came up. I've considered it for a couple years now. I'm thinking of doing it. I meet the requirements, I'd only be delayed to moving home for a few years, college will still be there, I have no plans on getting married soon if ever, I have no children, parents support me. My older bro' says go for it and says he is always looking for neat experiences and opportunities and that take them when they come and not when they are convienent.

Everyone that I know that has gone on MSG has loved it. I have a real good bud that is in charge of one of the embassies. He says it is an awesome tour. Go for it . . .
I have heard embassy duty is a blast, I dont know much about MSG other than that. also there is always online courses to get started on if you want to just collect your GIB and get started.
Lets put it this way, when you are a wrinkly old bastard, you are going to want some stories to tell and you will get some great ones out of the experiance.
