Default Comissary/Exchange

What is everyones opinion on having the ability to use the comissary/exchange AFTER your time in service has expired?

Say you complete a basic 4yr term with the military, get out with an Honorable discharge, would you think it's fair for say 2yrs after you can continue to use the Comissary/exchange?

At one time I thought this was true but now it isn't.

Say if you do 8yrs you can use it for 4yrs.

Thoughts?

I rarely use either to be honest. The commisaries have a 5% surcharge, and usually after tax and discount card the neighborhood market has better prices, cuter cashiers, better hours, and closer to home. Plus, commissaries only carry national brands.

as far as AAFES, the price is good, and quality is better than walmart but the selection is quite low. Sometimes go, not having it is considered no big loss to me. Except smokies are about a $1 cheaper on base.

Once you lose that ID card, you lose the benefits associated with that ID card.

Being in Hawaii, I save about 15% on purchases at the Commissary.

At some stores it's about $8 a gallon. Good thing I am lactose intolerant.

I rarely go to the exchange or commisary. Walmart is very competitive unless you are buying a big ticket item you don't save that much on taxes...at least not around Fayetteville, NC.

I think it is fair. As stated above though, Super Walmarts and other stores can get pretty competative

My wife and i use the commisary all the time for MOST of our shopping needs...the BX however is low on the list as their prices are not any better than most off base stores...i use walmart, best buy, target ect. ect. for most of my other needs...

Good thing about the PX is that they will match prices of their competition. Here on Bragg I don't like the fact that you can go to one PX and buy something then go to the other PX here because there are 2, and pay more or less depending what you buy. I bought a jacket at the North Post PX and seen it the next day at the South Post PX for 8 dollars less...

I use the PX quite a bit and the commissary rarely. I still feel that only active or retired people should still have access to them though. I also think that NG/Reserves should have full-time use too.

I think they should make certain houres for the old retired people so i aint gotta wait on ther slow asses. Tired of gettin stuck behind some 80 year old lady counting pennies or trying to remember where she put her money, then paying hale in pennies and the rest by check.

But wait theres more= She can't remember how to spell her own damn name.
