I think they should make certain houres for the old retired people so i aint gotta wait on ther slow asses. Tired of gettin stuck behind some 80 year old lady counting pennies or trying to remember where she put her money, then paying hale in pennies and the rest by check.
But wait theres more= She can't remember how to spell her own damn name.
Careful there youngster...show a little respect to your elders. Those retirees paid their dues...the least we can afford them is a little respect.
Most commissaries have certain times where folks in uniform go to the head of the line, in fact, they even have lines specifically for those in uniform so they can get in and out of there in a hurry. If it's too much of a bother for you to wait in line and be delayed because of a retiree, then try and schedule your visits to the commissary when, if you are in uniform, you can go to the head of the line.
I live about an hour or more away from the nearest commissary or Post Exchange/PX. When I do get the chance to go there I prefer it. I've always found I save money shopping at either of those places and the lack of taxes on things at the PX definitely is a plus. I bought a nice Coach purse at the PX for a 100 bucks. I saw the same purse at Dillards for 150 bucks. There are some things that are more expensive there and vice versa. I guess like any place else you have to look for a good deal.
I have 100% total privileges on post for everything from being in the Officer's Club to using the hospital or MWR. My husband was medically retired on 100% disability due to the motorcycle accident which severed his brain stem. He was medically discharged, declared incompetent and retired in less than 24 hours following his accident. So as a widow I have access to everything I had access to as the spouse of an active duty personnel.

Not only is that TOTALLY disrespectful it is flat out rude and unkind!! I hope you never get old and have someone treat you with such malice.
I take care of the elderly regularly at the hospital and am amazed and impressed at the life knowledge they have and the incredible things that many have been through. Elderly are revered in the oriental race because they have so much life experience and knowledge to share with the younger generation. People who are so ignorant as to think they can manage without the experiences passed down from the older generations are naive. It is those experiences and life knowledge that teaches us lessons and helps us to strive to do or to be better.
Obviously from your inability to write a coherent sentence or translate your poorly organized thought process from the recesses of your brain to the computer screen, you haven't spent much time learning or listening to your elders!
I am so disgusted with your attitude I can't even begin to say all the things that come to mind.
(I'll probably be apologizing for this later, damn it)

Anyways I hate going to the BX during duty hours they always have a lunchtime line for uniforms but that line is ALWAYS the longest and no on in it is wearing a uniform. And I feel like a prick just pushing to the front of it to buy my smokes, coke, n paper.

unless they are honestly in a hurry, you will almost never see a GI actually cut into line because he's in uniform. I can't remember a single time in my 11 years that I ever actually used that privledge.
I literally live down the street from Ft Carson but almost NEVER go on the base except to hunt. I don't shop at the commisary or the PX. Just got used to being civilianized. I do take my kid to the parks and hunt all over the hinterlands of the base though.
My wife and i use the commisary all the time for MOST of our shopping needs...the BX however is low on the list as their prices are not any better than most off base stores...i use walmart, best buy, target ect. ect. for most of my other needs...
Ditto - BX is ok when I don't want to pay tax on something that never goes on sale. Commissary is a life-saver just on milk and cereal alone.

I may have gotten a little overzelous but it isn't easy going to the commissary when you are a single father with 2 screaming kids just trying to get there after work before they close because I can't get there during lunch because I have no where to put my groceries after I purchase them. I try my hardest but ya know everyone has an opinion.
When I was in 5th SFG at Ft Campbell. I used to go down to the VA hospital in Nashville about every month to talk with the Old Soldiers. We would go in big groups and it was great to hear their stories and see their faces when we would come sit and talk with them.
You are alright bro, I am sure we all understood what you were saying, maybe it was the way it was worded that caused it to look, shall I say crass? no problems though.

So SORRY if I offended anyone.
I understand what it is like to be a single parent. As I stated earlier my husband died and I raised 3 daughters by myself. I know about the elderly, yes they are slower but so are small children, people who aren't very bright and pregnant women.
Nothing wrong with "expressing" your opinion, I respect your right to an opinion. I just felt that it was wrong to say bad things about our elderly. They deserve a lot of respect for the lives they have lived.
I also apologize if I was harsh in my statement. I was feeling a tad "moody" and hormonal.

thats about hitting the nail right on the head there...cereal and milk prices are good but diapers are cheaper at wal-mart...BX like you said is used when i dont want to pay tax on something...
I rarely go to the exchange or commisary. Walmart is very competitive unless you are buying a big ticket item you don't save that much on taxes...at least not around Fayetteville, NC.
Walmart treats their employess worse than Target.
At least at the commisary/PX I save some bucks. And most of the employees are dependents of servicemembers or retired military.

The BX on Chas. AFB will price-match any offer from pretty much any store. When I was 19 I worked at Lowe's, and got a 20% off employee discount. My parents were looking for a washer/dryer set to buy for a condo they had just bought to rent out, and another set to have delivered to my brother for the house they just bought him. The BX not only matched the price that Lowe's was selling for, but also added in an additional 20% off to match the discount they would have recieved thru me.
We live a good 25 minutes from the AFB, but we always make a trip up there once every 2 weeks or so to buy groceries. Also fill up our tanks on base too, because gas is a good $0.25-$0.30/gal cheaper on base than it is out here in Mt. Pleasant and Daniel Island.

When I lived on Southern Maryland my wife and I would use the commissary when we could because the prices on meat and dairy products were better than the local grocery store. Now that I no longer live near a base it is no longer convenient and the NEX prices werent that great as far as electronics go.
