Base riding information
I thought it would be good if we could compile a list of bases and the appropriate measures the base wants you to take to ride on their respective base.
For example:
Pearl Harbor Navy Base. Reflective vest only required at night. Long sleeves, helmets and gloves required at all times. Must have MSF card from either civilian or military for access
Hickam Air Force Base. Reflective vest must be worn at all times. Long sleeves, helmets and gloves required at all times. Must have MSF card from either civilian or military for access. *IMPORTANT* Service member who has been riding less then a year can NOT register a bike over 600cc on base.
Feel free to add to the list. Will ask for a sticky.
EDIT: FYI the easist way to use this thread once it gets huge, will be to us the Search Thread tool for your base; so when providing information please do NOT abbrv your base.
Most AFB's have moved to Contrasting color by day and refelctive at night
I personally like ICON's Mil Spec Vest it is not too badly priced and looks better than the village people has an ID holder and numerous nifty pockets retails around $50
note: I dont even like ICON
but it also wads up to fit in a trunk and fits over my leathers

Those are quite common around here.
For San Diego bases (at least it was) : Reflective at night (except Coronado required at all times) boots over the ankles, full length gloves, shirt/jacket.
Ft Bragg requires you to have the MSF and motorcycle endorsment (no permit) before you can register for a post sticker. They require you wear a DOT helmet, full finger gloves, arms and legs can not be exposed and shoes/boots that provide ankle protection. You also have to wear at the minimum a PT belt diagnally over you right should or vertically on your back pack, day or night. They have never said anything to me about riding in uniform with my sleeve rolled up as long as I have everything else being the hassle it is to roll them up and down again.
Fort Bliss... DOT Helmet, long sleeve pants and shirt, full finger gloves, over the ankle shoes, reflective vest at all times. Both beginner and advanced MSF courses in order to get on post.

DOT helmet, eye protection if not wearing a helmet with a visor, reflective vest at all times on base, long sleeves, full finger gloves, pants, and boots. I believe they requred the MSF course, either one, but I had taken it anyway so I don't remember for sure.

Sportbike: no motorcycle... 1st time in 5 years!
On Shaw AFB you gotta have contrasting colours, reflective vest at night or in uniform at all times (no belts) long sleeves, full finger gloves, DOT or Snell approved helmet, pants and any shoes (no sandals) and some sort of eye protection.
Hurlburt Field was the same about a year ago, don't know about now.
On Fort Jackson, you have to have a reflective vest on at all times and boots that cover your ankles in addition to the rules above.
Of course DoD wide rules mandate the MSF course.
I also know that PACAF-wide that rule is in effect where you are limited to a 600cc or below bike in your first year of riding or something to that effect.
If you ever have to come to Oki and want to ride. My best advse is to get a bike over here. It is a huge hassle and financial burden to try to get an American bike imported over here. Once you have a ride, you have to go through the Motorcycle safety class here, even if you have been through one before. They address specifics about riding over here, like the fact that we are not allowed to split lanes like everyone else does. There are a bunch of rules that are specific to SOFA status personell. If you are going to be coming this direction let me know and I will get you pointed in the right direction (at least for the next few months, then I am back in the states).
NAS Pensacola FL. First you have to take the motorcycle course, once that is done you get your card. Rules for driving on base; long sleeve, pants (no shorts), full finger gloves and above the ankle boots or shoes. Reflective vest only during the night or early morning and in inclement weather. DOT approved helmet of course also. They say that if you are out in town and caught not wearing the above protective gear you will lose your on-base driving privliges.
