Default Track Day..

Well, since SBN finally decided to come up, and thoes of us that went to the track day finally decided to come back to the land of the living (I think we were all spacein out around here for at least a day or 2). I might as well post a little about the track day.

A great time was had by all. We had one little mishap, but that all turned out ok in the end. Hurt ego, and a banged up bike, but not bad by any means. But that is enough of the no fun part.

The day was great, and we all put a whoopin on our tires. Bike all ran wonderfully.

Mandy scored a free track day, and a take off rear tire for her bike. Both of which are sweet. I ended up scoreing a Micron High mount oval slip on for my bike, with a stock headder. Was good stuff.

By the end of the day we were pullin some good laptimes, somewhere in the 1:40's. Which I think is fairly decient out of a stock bike (At least for me), and for a first time on the track experience. Still a little room for improvement. I actually got yelled at by a track official that basically kicked me out of the novice class, and told me to move up at least one class. Something about going too hot into corners and scareing the other riders. So I guess it was kind of a compliment, and kind of chastizeing. I dunno though.

The last session of the day I think we managed to piss off all the other riders in our class enough that none of them wanted to deal with us lapin them another few times the next session. So me and Ben had the entire track to ourselves. We were rippin it up big time. Some of the riders from the expert class came onto the track (I Think to try and put us in our place), and we caught up to and passed thoes foolz also. So it was a blast.

Anyway's, that was about all I want to take the time to type about, their were enough of us there and enough hols for everyone to fill to let everyone have a chance to say what they want.

It was a good time. I'm really really really glad I went back today. Did alot better, especially once I figured out why I crashed on the first day. Yeah, I screwed up, but not in how I took the corner. I'm pretty sure she dropped from second to neutral in the corner, so I was looking for gas, not brake. It happened to me again on turn 8 today but I figured out what it was before I was eating dust.

Today was fantasmic! I finished the novice riders class and got a cute litle certificate. I did alot better riding. I was getting pretty good in the left hand corners, though not so great in the rights. I'll learn, really. I didn't; run the last session and a half. I was getting tired and stupid.

Thanks a ton again guys. For everything! (trailer, tools, tire assistance, moral support, etc)

When's the next one?

Great time when can we go again Ben? Must give some props to the mad chef Kyle. Hope everyone had as much fun as I did. Street riding doesn't really compare after that experience. Thanks for everyones help and advice.

Definately a great time. I'm shopping for a 600 right now.

Don, take a look at that header. Looks like a Micron serpent to me.

Here are a couple pictures from the pits. Hopefully Kyle got some good action shots.

Don and I both got pulled off the track. We were a little too overzealous in our passing.

Mandy said they were allowing passing on the outside of the big sweeper for everyone on Sunday. That pisses me off.

I didn't get pulled off the track or my passing though, I was just pulled over after my session in the pits, and told I needed to move up at least one class. Because I was going too fast for novice, and probably scareing the other guys, and makeing them feel a little too much pressure.

I will hopefully be getting the pictures developed today. Just gotta gt off my arse and get it done.

I had a great time riding with you guys on saturday! The bikes all ran well and we didnt have any real problems out there to deal with which was cool as hell! I felt we should have went for another level where we can pass in the corners but ah hell it was our first time at Vegas so its good to be modest... Its good to see Mandy had a fun time the next day in the class. Hopefully your confidence is growing and your cutting those corners smooth!! I spent most the day just fixing on my posture and utilizing some instructions from a couple weeks ago. I will have to say though the second to last and last sessions rocked since we had the track to ourselves pretty much. That was sweet riding there. It was also super fun to have all the homies me kev brian and don goin at it!! I still have a grin on my face from that day!!!

Im gonna be looking for a 600 as well as some more goodies to setup our race trailer a little nicer. Im also looking at more track days to go to for us... Anyone insterested in Willow or Pahrump if i can find something?

***Speciual Thanks for Kyle being the one man band pit crew/photo guy for the day!!! Kyle Rocks!!!

I second the props to Kyle, he's quite the pit crew, and highly entertaining.

I haven't tried street riding. I did notice that when I saw an overhead view of a big left handed turn in a movie, my mind did switch over into looking for a good spot for an apex. It was kind of a weird frame of reference effect.

Could anyone do Dec 6th at http://www.sbrtrackday.com/ ? only $99 for Willow Springs "Road Course-Big Track"
