Well I have a bone stock ZX6R, bought it new and love the stock look of the bike, well other than the turn signals and rear plate holder. I have been thinking about replacing the exhaust but came up with another idea not too long ago.
What do you guys think about leaving the stock muffler on the back but hollowing out the inside and running the exhaust tubing through there and having it meet up with the tip? It would look stock but not sound it.
Anyone think it'd be that hard? Would it sound horrible? Has it been done before?
Sorry if it's a bad idea lol I figured if anyone would know it'd be you guys.
I have heard of people hollowing out their stock exhausts...then keeping a spare around to help pass emissions. But i don't remember what they said it sounded like.
Not really, but the instance i can remember the guy had his own welding supplies, ie the cutting torch and the the right stuff to close it back up.
If you do do it, i wouldn't remove everything...my guess is that it would be way way to loud and rattle a lot, but i don't know for sure.
ive seen it done. it looked like shit and sounded like hot ass, but the price was right. you will have to cut it open to remove everything in there. if you dont / cant weld this isnt the project for you.
also have you ever heard a full system on this bike. pick one up used and actually gain some hp's while sounding like a damn racebike.

I agree. Even a used slipon would be better than your idea

Alright I think i'm going to skip this idea and just order an Akrapovic Slip on, I just like the stock look. Thanks for the info.

Do you know of a good place to get their slip on at a reasonable price? How hard are they to put on a 2006 ZX6R??
Josh

I hear they are a pain to install, while i'm sure I can do it without a problem I was told there is some type of sensor? in the exhaust that makes it more difficult?
