Default 2001 ZX7-R Help needed!!!

OK by the title you can tell i am working on a 01' ZX7-R. The problem is I am getting no fire. I have power going to the coils but nothing going to the plugs. I just changed the airbox, (the old one was broken and had some stripped screws, so it was replaced) The bike also has an air shifter, and a 5 deg ignition advance. I drag rece the bike so it has an extended swing arm but that dont really matter. I have a FSM that tells how to check the IC ignitor box and the pick up coil, but my test meter dont have the setting the manual says to use. Any advice on what to check?

now i donr know if its the same but i just had the same problem with my car and was getting power to the coil but none to the plugs. and eventually had to replace the icm. so that may be your problem but i dont know if it will be the same for a bike and a car. and i know the icm is expensive but if you can find a used 1 or know some 1 that can loan you a new 1 at least you can narrow it down. hope this helps good luck

just dont replace the icm until you know what the problem is

been there, done that.

I thought if the icm was bad then most likely no power would be getting to the coils. If you got power to the coils then im not sure.

also, i used regular multimeters (even a pocket multi), not the one kawi says you have to use, and it tested accurately (enough to tell) on a bad icm and a good icm

good luck!

I had the same problem with my zx7r where the coils would get power but no power would go to the sparks(on this website go on zx7r and u'll see my thread I posted on march). Mine was a pick up coil also known as the pulse coil. I got one from an old 93 7r and it worked on the newer models. Im positive it's your pick up coil-it cost about $85 at the dealer
