Default Need help removing wheels on ZX-6R

I'm thinking about painting my wheels but I need to find information on how to remove the wheels. Is it pretty straightforward? I imagine the front wheel is cake but I'm a little sketched out about the rear wheel since there is so much going on there.

Please help

What would be used to lift up the bike to get the wheels off the ground? Sorry for the newbie questions

Get some spools, and a set of front and rear stands. A must for someone who does their own maintenace, like removing your rear wheel.

These are a pretty good deal for f&r stands http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/SWING...spagenameZWDVW

There are better ones like "Pit Bull" but they are more for one stand than both of those together. Just remember to get the spools!

You may need a new cotter pin also, but not necessarily.

Also not sure what tools you have, but the rear axle nut can be a biatch!
But it's pretty straight forward.

Hope this helps, and good luck!

Just had mine off yesterday for the back take the cotter pin out. Well u need to jack the bike up if you dont have standes take a floor jack and jack the bike up and put two jack stands under the swingarms. Remove the bolt that the cotter pin was in you will need a wrench or something to hold the other side it looks like a bolt also.when u got the bolt off have a friend or someone put there foot under the tire and lift then u pull the axle out from the left might have to move it around to get it out. Thats it hope this helps

Is it hard getting the chain attached back onto the sprocket when you are re-assembling everything?

it should be easy to put the chain back on. If your having a hard time doing it just take off the master link and put it back on but there should be no need for that

you will need a spindle or chuck for the front axcel, they are like $12 at cyclegear or the kawi shop may have them also.

as the other guy said, must have front and rear stands.

I can swap both rims and tires and have them back on in under an hour. Its really not that bad.
