Is $3995 a good deal for 02 Ninja 750RR ?
I seen a dealer add for a 2002 Ninja 750RR.
This bike has 5500 mi. on the clock and is silver ,black & yellow. Is this a factory color combo ? Not big on the yellow part. Anybody got pics of this paint combo ?
It's priced at $3995 and they will accept trades.
The add doesn't say anything about damage. It just says runs & drives perfect.
So what do you guys/gals think ? This seems to be a pretty low price if everything is alright with it.
I really don't know much about the Ninja models. I got a couple of friends who used to have the older ZX-10 models and they were pretty nice bikes. My niece also has a 250 Ninja thats a fun little bike.
I have my old 88 FZR 1000 to trade if possible. I need to put a new stator in it and finish painting the lowers. Every thing else is good to go (Tires, sprockets, chain & paint have less than 500mi.).
My bike has 11,000 mi. ttl. and I'd like to get about $2,600- $2,800 cash/trade in for it .
Please tell me your thoughts about this 750 RR model Ninja and

Not sure what a 750RR is. Is it a ZX-7R, as far as I know Kawi doesn't make anything called a 750RR. But if it's an 02 ZX-7R for $4k, I'd go for it, sounds like a good deal. Also, I don't think there is anyways you will get $2800 for your FZR on a trade. You MIGHT, be able to sell it for that to a private party, but even that is stretching it.

Do it. That color scheme is factory. The 7, always gets negative comments for being, heavy, outdated etc. Lies, lies. That is one of the most stable bikes Ive ever ridden. I own a 95 zx7, and ride my friend's 98 zx7. Awsome bikes. If you dont give a shit about doing wheelies, and other squid shit buy it! It gets down and can hang with any bike out right now.

I looked at the add and compared it to the kaw. gallery here and see that it is a factory paint scheme/colors.
I'm still not big on that color(yellow) and I could do without the checkered board on the lowers, but the price seems right.
I just want a more modern bike, but I don't want to loose the power/torque that my bike has (88 FZR 1000). My bike is also quite heavy (over 520 lbs.)and big and I'm only 5'3" 155 lbs. and sometimes I just get tired of manhandling the thing.
A buddy of mine had a 90 or 92 FZR 1000 and it felt more like a 600,but with of course 1000cc power.
A modern 750 should at least be compareable acceleration wise maybe better.
That's what I like, allout speed doesn't do it for me(in fact I geared my bike down for a little more torque). I get a rush out of how quickly a bike accelerates from a dead stop and roll on/out of corners.
I also like a bike that's good on twisty backroads/old two lane Hi-ways.
I may check into the Kaw. this week. If they have it and are willing to consider my bike fine if not that's fine too.
Oh and Firefighter81,I read (CW) that Aprilia May come out with an RS 400 for the U.S.. Is this, could this be remotely true ?
I checked into getting a street legal RS250 a couple of years ago,but the dealer said they aren't legal here and tha company had no plans to make them legal here. They should not have teased me with the RS race only display model. Truly one of the most impressive motorcycles I've ever seen. They dashed my day dreams of whipping up on guys with 750-1000cc bikes on my local back roads.
That is the ONLY time I've every thought about purchasing a sub 750cc street bike again. I paid my dues on small bikes Honda 200 Twinstar 1yr/Yam. 400 Seca 5yrs/600 Hon. Hurricane 2yrs.

If you watch ebay and the Aprilia forums you will see a street legal RS250 for sale every once in a while. There aren't many examples, and most people that have them end up keeping them for a while. There WAS a loophole that allowed you to register those bikes for the street, sadly, last year that loophole was closed. But RS250's that already were registered are good to go, they normally end up running about $7000.
Also, yeah I've heard the possibility of the new Aprilia 450, too bad it's not gonna be a 2-stroke it looks like a little Mille, nice bike. Hopefully they come out with it, my next track bike will probably be a Yamaha TZ250 or something, but that's a ways down the road.

Man... that grey/black/yellow checkerboard pattern is my favorite factory paint job.
That price is good... I say go for it, and let us know the details and post up some pics.
As far as the 7R goes.... I think it's one of THE best looking bikes on the road.
It is older, heavier, and slower than new bikes, but it's solid as a rock on the street.
You don't have to worry about the bike twitching out from under you.

Dude that sounds like a great price . As far as I know, they did not make a 7rr in 2002. But non the less the zx7r is a great bike. No it's not a wheelie machine. It will out handle your FZR1000 and will fall slightly short of the acceleration of the early 90's FZR1000. Drop a tooth in front and a full exhust with some jetting and it will be all of the above you want. I own a slighly modded 91 zx7 and love it. The link below is one of yellow 02 zx7r. I am in michigan, if you are not interested in buying it, let me know, I might check it out. I love the zx7. I has not changed much since 91 and almost not at all since 96.

That sounds like a good price. It is not a real zx7rr they only made them in 96.

actually modidy, they didn't change at all since 96 (except for paint). I'm also in the detroit area, and own a persimmon red 96. the 7's are a rare breed indeed. as for the 02, $4000 sounds like a good price as long as it's in good shape.

Thanks for the replies ! Don't know about the RR business as I haven't kept up with the Kawasaki sport bikes the last few years. That's just what the add says "2002 Kawasaki Ninja 750RR",hell the thing may be gone by now. I was hopeing to sell a Parts car this week to get the cash to finnish my bike for sell or trade, but no luck yet.
Just in case they still have it and one of you want to check on it then go for it !
It's at Maxim Motors,inc. Elkhart,IN. ph# 574-320-1179 or 574-389-7726
My main reason for the post anyway was to find out a little more about the new Ninjas, the 750cc model specifically.
Oh,modidy, went to your link and that bike doesn't have the same paint scheme (although I do like that one better). The one in the add is Black, yellow & silver with a black & white checkered board design on the lower fairing. I seen one in the gallery on the board. I think it was someone who goes by "Rotty" or something. Just not my cup of tea,you know. I don't really get into the "Flashy" paint schemes on vehicles.

I hear ya on the flashy stuff. I plan on painting my bike yellow with a black tail. I am debating re-polishing the frame. It was already polished when I bought it. I was going to paint of powder coat it black, but my buddy keeps pushing for me to re-polish since it is already done and would be cheaper than powder coating. But first thing first, I need to finish the rebuild.
Tiamat dude, we need to keep in touch and get togehter for some rides next summer. I usually ride with a buddy of mine. He just recently upgraded from a 98 cbr600 to a 04 GSXR1000. Which is part of the reason for my rebuild and mods( I need to be able to somewhat keep up)

modidy, your paint idea sounds cool. I don't hate yellow as a color per say, just with the scheme on this bike the yellow just doesn't work for me,too much going on,too busy.
That's one reason I went to a solid dark blue metallic on my FZR. Kinda like an R1,but I think mines a tad darker. It was factory white & blue w/gold stripes before me and my buddy repainted it. It wasn't a bad looking scheme/color combo, but would've been a P.I.T.A. to duplicate and it looked dated.
I kept the white wheels,gold calipers & gold inner disc mounts/hats(?). I then bought a matching H.D. o-ring chain w/gold links.
If I was going to keep the bike I would tear it down this winter and have the frame/swingarm powder coated either satin or flat black or dark grey. Then have the wheels powder coated grey/silver. That along w/R1 or R6 tank badges and R1 exhaust canister would go a long way in making my bike at least LOOk at litte more modern.
I still like the style/shape of my bike. In fact I've had a few people give me positive comments on it and when I tell them it's an 1988 model they can't believe it of course guys/gals that are in the know, KNOW it's a dinosaur, abet a 115 h.p.,150mph dinosaur.

Yea, I have the silver, black, and yellow ZX7. I bought mine as a 02 left over for $7200 OTD. I love it. I love the factory paint scheme, because they are very rare. I doubt you will see somebody with the same color scheme.

Cool Rotty,
Paint schemes aside, tell me about the what really matters, the bike !
Do you have to manhandle it in the city/slow turns ? Does it feel light in the twisties ? Does it feel top heavy? On the other end is it TOO twitchy? Is it heavy, relative to say a 600cc sportbike ?
How would you rate the power,low end/mid range,smoothnesd,throttle responce,etc.
I like a bike that has predictable, surefooted, confident inspiring and neutral handling and strong low/mid-range power.
I've always been a fan of the 750cc sport bike,but somehow skipped fromm a 600 to a 1000cc bike.
I'm sure in all out top speed the 02 ZX-7 would spank my bike, but that's mute since I rarely go over 115-120 and that's only for very brief periods at that.
