Just thought I'd drop a quick line and say "Hello." I must make a confession though. I used to ride dirt biokes when I was a kid, having owned a Suzuki RM 250 and a Yamaha YZ 250. I never got into the street or sport bike scene until very recently, almost 25 years later. I'm not a 20 or 30 year old, but just turned 42. I have just committed to buying my first sport bike, a 2004 Kawasaki Ninja 500 from the local cycle shop. I know alot of people will probably say I'm crazy for buying a sport bike being over 40 and all, but I just felt more comfortable on the Ninja than I did a touring bike like the Shadow.
Needless to say, I'm not very savvy when it comes to these types of bikes, or any for that matter as I have been away from biking for so long. Shoot, I still need to get my motorcycle license. But with the price of gas going higher and higher, it's getting to the point where it's just getting too expensive to drive my 4wd Dodge Ram.
I know some here will probably say I've lost my marbles, but I do hope I'll be accepted, even though I'm not in the "younger crowd" classification. I hope to meet many new friends here and also learn all there is to learn about my new bike. It may not be new, but I like it and am happy with it. I don't need a super sport bike or anything wild, just something that is dependable, good on gas, and looks good as well.
Anyways, sorry for rambling, but just wanted to let y'all know where I stand on the street bike scene. Hopefully that will change in the near future though.
Thanks for letting me join!
