Hey people. I've been wanting a bike for quite some time now, I basically just don't know what I should be looking for. I have some experience riding, but not on populated streets. I started out when I was young on a 50cc dirt bike, then I was given an '85 250cc Honda Elite scooter shortly after. I just recently junked the scooter due to it just wasting away in my garage. My brother-in-law owns a CBR 929RR, which he has let me ride. I know the common law about starting on a smaller bike, so I was just wondering on what I should invest my money into. I have been reading the threads here on tips and cautions for beginner riders, and they are very informative. I was preffering something new due to the fact of warranties (thats the only way I roll when buying a new vehicle). I had noticed when riding the CBR that there was a massive amount of power there, just I knew it was way to much for my skill level. I wasn't afraid of it, just I knew it superceded my capabilities. My experinces riding have been off road, as well as residental neighborhood streets, which don't have much traffic or none at all. Though with my lack of experience in riding on populated streets, I know I pick up on things quickly. With that said would it be a smart idea to get a new bike, even though I may sell it in about a year if I find the want of something with more power? Verily, this vichyssoise of verbiage veers most verbose, so let me simply add that it is my very good honor to meet you all and you may call me Arc.
Welcome to sbn...
I would buy something used.It will be cheaper and you are not messing up a new bike should you drop it etc.Just make sure that you get something someone has taken care of.A warrenty should not be too nessary cause you wont be keeping it but about a year or so.The 250cc and 500cc are pretty dependable bikes so if you take care of it you shouldnt have any problems.Buy some good gear,halmet,jacket,gloves,shoes/boots.(It only works if you wear it)Good luck
Willie

At no point...in your rambling incoherent response...were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points...and may God have mercy on your soul."
