How-To: Temporarily Fix a Broken Shifter

Dropping your bike on the left side and snapping your shifter is a bummer. Now you have to wait and wait for a new one to come in and you're off the road.

Here is an easy way to temporarily get you by until the new one comes in.

What you will need to buy at your hardware store:

(1) Steel Bolt
(2) Steel Nuts
(2) Locking Washers

Other supplies that you prolly have in the garage.

-Electrical tape

(1) Drill a hole where the shifter peg broke
(2) Sandwich a locking washer on both sides of the hole
(3) Put your bolt threw it
(4) Thread on the nut
(5) Wrap exposed bolt with electrical tape
(6) Ride
