Default clutch work

i wanna do my own clutch on my 2002 750. From what I understand is just mainly replacing plates, right?? I was looking at the manual and it mentioned something about a special tool holding the plates as you remove them. Is this special tool nessary.

if youre replacing the plates then you can take the old ones out and use them as frisbees, check my how to rebuild your clutch thread
