Default How to increase horsepower on bikes thread...

anyone know the ways to increase horsepower on bikes? like cars it's the intake, sports exhaust, racing chip, air filter, etc. lists the ways to increase it on a bike like the airbox mod, big bore kit, air filter, etc. not that there is a need to increase the hp, but just for the knowledge to know how.

Most of what you listed for cars is the same...you have to increase the air the engine can intake and expel...increase the fuel to match...make sure the ECU handles the changes (usually a Power commander or similar) and that is just the engine.

For gearing you can change your final gear ratio by swapping out sprockets...which will not actually increase HP but can get you a hell of a lot faster 1/4 times if done right.

And lastly you have expensive options like Forced Induction or NOS...but you have to be a serious throttle junky to even consider either of these...and they are big $$.

Search this forum...I'm sure your question has been answered like 1000 times.

Yep, you're right. A combustion engine is a combustion engine and the same principles apply. The only difference is that 10hp increase on a bike engine is way more difficult to achieve than on a car's engine.
