If youd like to write a tutorial on fixing fiberglass sure.........
The molding thing Ill stay out of as its way too advanced for the average hobbyist.
Buying tooling gelcoats and all the other crap is beyond what the majority of people here do.
We can use some good fiberglass fixing stuff and I dont have the time to go find a piece to fix.
So if you wanna write that up........hit me up and we can get to work on it.

If you need a tutorial I will take requests by you utilizing the email options in the PM's section. I just cant afford the time spent here hanging out and helping. When clinical rotations are done and Im finished with class life will be easier and I hope to make a conan the barbarian style return.............bitches

Hi there! Im a newbie on all mechanic things, just bought a 90 yamaha fzr600. And it died, first w engine sounded like its going to start, then it went to making that " click click sound. Talked to a few friends, it seems like the battery is dead.
I did a few searches on the HOW TO sections, and searches on the search engine in this site. But havent found a good link on this issue. Anyone would like to make a tutorial on that? Or just some links or comments on what i need and how to check or change battery?
Just bought the 101 sporksbike book from Evans Brasfield, but wont be here till later, so im hoping someone would give me some tips, cuz i really wanna ride! =)

if you're hearing a click click sound your battery is working. have you checked to see if the headlight(s) still work? if so, the battery is just fine. your starter may be fried.. if you continue to hold the start button and see smoke or smell something funny, it's your starter. i could be wrong because i'm using my knowledge of boats/PWCs/cars trucks etc but that's what it seems like.. also, check your fuses to make sure they're all okay. if you blew a fuse, that may be where a problem is. how long have you had the bike? what kind of condition is it in? have you done any other maintanence on it? if not let us know and we'll point you in the right direction
EDIT: okay i re-read what you wrote. you just bought it.. the first thing we need to do is get the thing running. do you have an owners manual? if not i'm sure someone on here can find one that you can download in PDF form which will be super useful... in the meanftime check over the bike for anything that YOU think looks funny. if YOU think it looks funny, it probably is. search the net for chain specs and see where your's should be set. depending on how the last owner took care of it, the chain might have to be adjusted. how are the tires? all this stuff might seem ridiculous now but the problem with the motor seems very minor. we're going to get you on the road, but we want you to be safe as well!

Thanks Smashbox!!! Really appreciate the reply! =)
To make this a clearer pic, im gonna just tell what happened (excuse my lack of better terminology for everything i describe, feel free to suggest what they r actually called, appreciate it!):
Riding towards an intersection, I slow down and ready to stop by shifting down from 5th to 2nd gear. As i get closer, light turns green, so i upshift to 3rd. I first hear some weird noises by the tank after i was off the clutch level and on the throttle. Sounded like wasnt enough gas or or too much gas. I was also going from there to uphill, so i thought it was just not enough power or someting, but then within 20 seconds, the engine just sort of shut off. I tried to start the engine again, it makes that almost gonna start noise, just short of the reving engine sound. Just as i push the start button, all of the lights on my bike turns off, then it turns back on just after i let go of the start button. I tried that a few times even w choke, but that made things worse, the "almost gonna start noise" gets weaker each time i tried to start, and eventually it went to the "click click click" sound i mentioned.
Finally after 30min of trying, i had to push my bike back home. Horrible. haha.
Yeah i found the owners manual online in PDF. Thanks! But i dont even know where to look? haha. I already took it to a shop to get new chains/tires/brakes/levers for a quite a bit of $$. And im really looking forward to start doing it myself now. The previous owner ride it everyday as a commute vehicle. So compare to how often i ride to begin w due to the scortching hot weather, let's just say i baby it. =p
I also found this site that tells me all the specs i think i need to know about my bike (hope it helps others too)

it almost sounds like your bike was "lugging" because of the lack of power and ended up stalling. you may have killed your battery. do you have a charger? maybe you can charge it up and try to fire the bike up. how many miles on the clock? maybe the carbs need to be checked/cleaned.
edit: you may have also flooded the engine with the choke.. if there's too much gas in there it's not going to start.. you mentioned you weren't so mechanically inclined so i wouldn't advise you to take the plugs out and turn the engine over to spit some of the gas out without the help of someone a bit more experienced. do you have a friend who is handy with this sort of thing? it's not the hardest thing to do, but it will take a little bit of courage and a bit of patience as i'm not sure where the plugs are located on your bike. in the mean time if you can get your battery on a tender or even a charger you'll be in better shape than you are now.
try and see if someone can help you like a friend who has some experience wrenching around. if not maybe someone from the forum who is close to you might be willing to help you out?! (ANY TAKERS?!) unfortunately i'm on the other coast so i can only tell you things from what i'm reading.

Thanks again Smashbox for your suggestions and help!!
Now that u mentioned it, it did felt like it was lugging a bit before the engine stopped.
If anyone live close to San Bernadino County, and would like to offer some hints (fzr 600 specific) and help, i would really appreciate it. But for now, I probably have to get a bike stand/some tools/new battery or a charger to start the bike back up. Also a good way to get to know my bike. There's about mid 20k miles on it, maybe then i can get my carbs checked.
Yeah someone did mentioned the flooding possibility, what would i need to do to prevent that from happening again?

starting a vehicle using a choke is a delicate procedure.. flooding the engine is super easy using the choke.. i guess it's something you learn over time after screwing it up a bunch of times.. we have a 650 jet ski that has a choke and we still flood it when we're pissed it won't start and we're drifting in the bay... have you tried to start the bike since? you should be okay with the gas situation by now and you'd just have to let it crank a few extra times.. i think what you should do at this point in time is get the battery charged enough to crank that engine and let it clear itself of the extra gas that was dumped in there from the choke.. if the bike doesn't crank after getting some juice in the battery come back on here and post up what you did because you may have to invest in a new battery and/or check out the starter.. if the bike cranks but will not start then play with the choke sparingly though. and never try to start the bike for more than i'd say 10seconds or so at a time. if the bike continues to crank the starter will get hot and you'll risk burning it up and essentially frying it..
to get even more of an understanding you could always search howitworks.com if that even still exists and see how a choke on a carb works so you'll understand more about what happens when you do use the choke and how the butterflies operate and what not.. when your bike was running and you gassed it, did it hesistate or did it accelerate smoothly.. reason i'm asking is because if you gassed it and didn't get a response for a second or so one or more of the high speed butterflies may be sticking.. it's just the nature of a carb, or at least the ones i've delt with.. let me know if i'm hitting you with too much info too soon! i'm sorry if i am.
PM me if you'd like. I'm more than happy to keep talking about this.

Thanks Smashbox.
These r some pretty good advices! Wouldnt have known! haha
Im gonna try to get some type of battery charge for the bike then, hopefully i get to play w that soon. I will definitely let u know how it went.
Well....most of the time, when i gassed it, it runs smoothly. It did sounded weird at that incident, the gas felt as if it was sucked into the enginer but it wasnt really exploded and expanded in the engine as if was like choking. So i guess it did hesistated?
The info is all good, im still learning all the terms and parts. What's a high speed butterfly?

it's a part of the carb.. i'm pretty sure carbbed bikes have them, i know for a fact jet skis have them.. i'm not so sure what you're mentioning qualifies as hesitation.. you'd know if it wasn't responding properly.

I dont know how to use PM. so here is an update for my bike Smashbox
So i replaced the old w a new battery and charged, it sounded so much nicer!!!
However, when i try to start it, it still wont start. It felt like its almost there to run. To me it seems like the battery is strong and running, except for the VROOM sound.
It has been almost 5 days since i try to start it. So i believe the engine should be rid of gas. And for some reason i cant see the oil level at all. Whether its above the upper line or lower then the lower line even when i had it stand straight up. Does that mean i have too much oil?
Should i even try to clean out the carburetor myself as the next step?
Thanks again in advance!

i'm not sure what you mean when you say you can't see the oil.. does your bike have a sight glass or dip stick? if you have a dip stick and do not see any oil on it, add some! if you have a sight glass it should be half way up the glass... i'd really have to see it to be able to know what's going on.. why don't you try choking it at this point? start off with a few regular cranks and add a bit of choke.. does it sound like it's going to kick over and start or does it sound like endless cranking leading no where? you'd definitely hear a difference with the fuel starting to ignite. let me know what happens next.
