Default 2007 CBR1000RR vs. 2008 CBR1000RR

I have an opportunity to get a brand new 2007 cbr 1000rr for a great price or I can wait and get a 2008 in another month. I can actually buy the 07 for about $1500 less than the 08. Is the 08 really worth the extra cash? What are your reasons? I am really not in a hurry simply because it is 15 degrees and snowing at the moment but I don't want to let this offer pass me buy and regret it. All input is greatly appreciated. thanks.

If you like the looks of the 08 and can afford it then I'd go that route.

Supposedly the 08 feels SUPER LIGHT. And has a great torque spread throughout the revs.

The 08 has more power and less weight. Seems to be better balanced and better weight centralization. That said, unless you are an A+ rider you will not be able to realize these benefits. I have the 07 and I'm very happy with it.
Like you said, you can get good deals on the 07 but you will take a hit when you try to sell it. The additional $1500 or most of it can be recovered when you sell the 08.

Buy the 07. Keep it. That way you don't take a hit. Don't buy something to turn around and sell it when the next best thing comes out. I did that for a few years. lost my fucking ass too! Now, I buy to add to the stable. I won't get rid of bikes anymore.

The 07 design is 4 years old while the 08 is brand new, I would imagine you would be able to recoup most of the $1500.

I'd go with the 08 personally (went with the 07 600rr and have no regets at all

For use on the road buy 04-07. For racing buy a race bike

The 08 is a nice bike. It is really growing on me. It would be a toss up for me now. Although I don't think I'd ride to the fullest potential of either bike.

I'd wait until the 08 hits the showroom floor. The price isn't going to go up on the 07 and you get the chance to see em side by side.

I'd like to ride the 08 at a trackday just to mess with the slipper. Yeah I know you don't need it if you get everything done correctly but it would be nice to just drop a few gears and not worry about the blip.

I would let someone else buy the 08' and a month later buy it from them for $2000 less than what they paid for it. If you don't care about having a brand new bike, I would buy a used one. I wish I bought my 06' 600rr used.

It would be pretty hard to find someone who is willing to take a $2000 hit 1 month after they picked it up. I know there will be some available at the end of the season so as long as you can get the past the gotta have it now you can save some coin.

There will be gobs and gobs of used bikes within a few months of them hitting the streets. Inexperienced riders will be scared of these things and look to sell. A used bike with a few thousand miles on it will sell for $2000, less than new.

Screw the 07! None of you guys get it. The 08 CBR1000 has 4 things that will turn you into a hero that NONE of the other 3 competitor bikes have. 2nd Gen HESD. Slipper Clutch, Ignition interuption w/ pre programmed gear timming and decreased engine braking.

All 4 translate into smoother corner entrance and exits. Takes years to learn how to master smooth corner entries and exits. Honda will now let you learn how to do it in weeks. Go hero go!

Screw the 07!

Honda is late to the party with the slipper clutch. All 3 of the competitor bikes have it.

I have always favored Honda so I would choose the new blade but I don't see a huge difference in any of the 1000's.

To Laxplayer - I'll keep my eyes open for all those used 08's. I see that the time has extended to a few months as opposed to the month in your first post.
