if you have the pc3usb, here is how you do it:
1. install the software onto your computer
2. plug the usb chord into the pc3 and the other end into your computer
3. plug the 9v battery power supply into your pc3
4. download the map you want
5. go into the pc3usb program and click on "open map file"
6. load the map you downloaded into the program
7. click on "send map"
and you are done. go plug your pc3usb inot your bike and start her up. if you have the pc3r, the instructions are similar, except you need to have a laptop and the pc3r must be installed on the bike and the bike must be on (depending on what bike you have).

good luck!
