Weird start up idle/FI error

I have a 2001 CBR 600 f4i, recently changed the plugs and changed the oil along with putting new lights all around. I also cleaned out the throttle body, bike was in rough shape when i got it as far as how it ran. I had to change the CCT, which i did same time as the oil and plug change.

Problem: When i start the bike it runs at 1000rpm and bogs for roughly 10 sec. then FI light flashes 2 long and 3 short. The bike also runs a little rich.

fI code 23 is the o2 sensor. make certain that it is connected, all connections work, and that the wires haven't broken.

then disconnect your battery for a while to reset your codes.

if the code comes back replace your o2 sensor

you can also look up the "correct" way to clear your codes if you want.

i took a look and i didn't seem to see the o2 sensor or connection so i looked at the .PDF of the manual and it shows the California model having an o2 sensor. I don't have the California model. I did notice that something i missing near the MAP sensor that attaches to the bottom of the air box.

there is the pic of what i'm talking about. i have the connection that plugs into the piece that's facing the right. It looks like something else is suppose to plug in to the top of it at well. Any ideas on what it is or if anything is actually missing?

I've got the gas tank and air box off trying to clean the motor off. Whoever had it before me i think literally poured oil and rubbed dirt on it -_- its that bad... took 2 cans of degreaser and its 75% clean. That's how i noticed something might be missing but i have no idea what is suppose to be there. The bike wasn't well taken care of. Its kind of a project bike.

MAP Sensor connection or vacuum hose is my guess. I have the same problem intermittently with mine I just haven't gotten around to pulling the tank back off. I also have a California model, but the bike came with a slipon so I don't have an oxygen sensor anymore. Usually bugs me for a couple days, then goes away randomly so I'm guessing mines a loose connection somewhere.

One of these days I need to tear her completely apart and clean everything up. My electrical was cut up (flush mounts and chopped fender) before I got it and I've been having electrical gremlins for the last 1 1/2 years that I haven't found.

If you do get it torn down i hope you can post a pic or short video of you MAP sensor and where that vacuum hose runs to. I've tried to search of pictures or diagrams of that connection but have come up with nothing. The manual doesn't show where the hose runs from it. I'm sure the vacuum hose is gone because i didn't find any random hoses not plugged in. I'm stumped on how to buy a new one because i cant find a website with a diagram of that MAP sensor and where the hose runs. Thanks for your help

I probably won't get to it until closer to Summer when I can take a week off work to just hammer it out and get it done. I use my bike for commuting to keep gas costs down and I can't afford not to have it at this point. Head over to cbrforum.com if you haven't already. Chances are someone can tell you exactly what you need over there if you need to get up and running.

you need to look at a part fiche. it should show you what you need to know.
the parts fiche shows that thing on your airbox is the map sensor for sure.
