I use dental picks to help guide the cable head in or out of the sleeve in the throttle wheel. One hand on the cable giving it slack, the other running the pick to guide the end. Still takes time and dexterity, but it works for me.

You usually have to loosen the adjustment up at the bars all the way as well, to get enough slack.

If there's a way to screw it up, I've probably already done it.

Lol.. WAAAYY off subject, but I rebuilt my 955 motor 4 times before I figured out that my torque wrench was grossly out of calibration. Apparently leaving the torque wrench 'torqued' to 50ft/lb for a couple years will make it about 20lbs 'off', and Triumph main bearings aren't designed for that kind of squish. I THOUGHT I was torqueing it to like 22ft/lbs plus 90 degrees of stretch. Lol. More like 50lbs plus 90. However, I can now go from a running motor, to having the crank and transmission COMPLETELY out of the case, back to a running bike in under 7 hours.

Also, one time I put one of the pistons in backwards. Valves dont like that. So I tore the motor back down to turn that piston around correct... SOMEHOW ended up turning the other two pistons backwards also... Triumph valves are expensive, but the look on the parts guys face when you go to him a week after order one pair to order 3 more pairs for a 3 cylinder bike is priceless.
