Default 03 GSXR Clutch issues

I have a freind with a 03 GSXR stuntfighter

the clutch takes a death grip to clamp. I thought it was his cable so we removed it and its very free. cleaned it and put it back on. so its not the cable. seems to be in the clutch.

It holds well. he can clutch up wheelies and hold it nice. but he has no clutch control due to the insane stiffness.

Does this sound like a clutch spring issue?

what should we try? this is a stunt bike so he doesnt want to spend on a new clutch kit. thinking maybe get some OEM take off springs?

Did something change to make the springs stiffer? Did he just buy the bike and it came with an aftermarket clutch kit?

It's almost certainly an internal clutch part issue. It sounds as if there's a broken spring in the clutch or even a broken friction plate.
Sorry to say that you're going to have to do a manual teardown to inspect the problem.
