99 Yamaha FZR600 no start
Whats up all - long time lurker here, its a shame one of my first posts has to be asking for help.
Anyway, i picked up a FZR as a starter bike, and everything was going great until i swapped out the old coolant and changed the oil.
a couple days later (bike sat) i went to take it out. Bike started fine, idled normal, but when i went to put it in gear and let the clutch out it stalled. started right back up but stalled again as soon as i let out the clutch. at this point it started bogging and i had to give it a substantial amount of throttle to keep it running. It also sounded like it was missing. By the time i walked it back into my yard the only way it would run was at WOT, and it would only run at about a grand.
Of corse I'm not going to sit on the throttle for novelty so I let the bike sit for a couple days. I go back to it and while trying to start it I hear what may have been a backfire, but very loud. I've pretty much left it alone since then due to the fact that i dont know carburated engines or bikes in general.
any help or possibilities would be appreciated.

assuming that you change the coolant properly that is not the source of your problem. Would start by draining the gas and trying fresh gas, could pull the plugs and check them, check all your vacumme lines.

My FZR ran like this. It was a total POS.
Everyone was telling me fuel problems, fouled plugs, yada yaday. They where all wrong.
The FIRST thing to check is your regulator/retifier or RR,,,because it is the easiest thing to check before the bike fouls its plugs.
It is easiest to check with the bike running. It should output 13.5-14V at around 3-4k rpm.
You might have to swap out the plugs,,,they may have fouled now.

Thanks all for the answers, its been a hellish week with work and I'm only now getting to the dealer to pick up the manuals and parts. We'll see what happens here in a few days.
