Default fork seals?

I need to get the fork seal on my 04 636 replaced and noticed that the inner tube of the fork is dinged up. It was like that when I bought the bike and that is why the seal is leaking. My questioon is has anyone every sanded the high spots to make it smoth and had it seal? I'm worried trying to save money buy not replacing the tube may cost more when I have to have it done twice.
thanks for any input.

I have heard of people taking like 2000 grit to the high spots and then getting some clear epoxy to fill in the low spots.

I have talked to several racers that have done it, and they say it works incredibly well for what it is.

Just make sure you get ALL the oil off of there and clean it up with some degreaser before you try the epoxy, otherwise it won't stick.
