Help Me Fix ItA great place to post any problems you maybe having while working on your motorcycle. Most of us are do-it-yourselfers so this is a great way to share any information pertaining to fixing something or adding something on.
noobish question, well here it comes:
i want to check if headlight is working is it ok to connect it directly to the battery? Cause now i'm not sure if its a headlight or headlight wiring issues.
The headlight does not turn on at all, could it be cause of brocken relay?
Oh, and i checked fuses - they are ok.
Thanks.
if its a halogen then yes just remember not to touch the glas with your hand or it will blow out when you turn it on.
did you check both high and low beams? if niether work now and both worked before then its prolly some cennection issue, usuall the high or low blow out and one is still left. check the plug that plugs into the bulb mine vibrated loose a couple times and my light went out.

Idk if they are halogen or not. It should be stock 1 for 2004 R6.
high/low beas does not work.
well and the bike was set for track before, so headlight was taken off for some time.
Why would it blow anyway?
Bulbs can stop working because they get hit hard causing the internal parts to break. If the bulb tests good, start tracing wires and check all the connections. Use a meter to see where you are loosing power.

Rather than testing the lights by connecting to the battery, I'd use an Ohm meter to test for continuity. Safer that way, plus it's a great excuse to buy a Fluke multi-meter if you don't have one already.

That meter will work fine to test for checking resistance of the bulb and for checking for +12volts.
Put on resistance setting (in ohms) and touch leads together. It should read zero or very close to it. Then read across bulb, it should read very low.
For voltage check, put on voltage setting and put one lead on +12volt line and the other on ground. Practice by reading across your battery. If you battery reads -12v, switch the leads around. Red is positive, black is negative.
Next time by a Fluke 73 or something similar. They are pretty cheap, very reliable and have auto level settings.....however, yours will work fine for most applications.

Thanks everyone for help.
Damn it, changed buld, there is power on the incoming connector, both headlight connectors seem to work, still no lights.
Aghrrrrrrrrrrr...
