aftermarket sprockets; new chain size?
I have a bike that has been modified by the previous owner, but I don't know if the sprockets have been changed. I would suspect so because the top speed is over the speedo's limit, and faster than the OEM's spec.
So, if/when you get aftermarket sprockets, do you have to take into account chain link length? I.E- if you go +2 teeth in the rear, do you need more links? Or -2 in the rear do you need less links?

Just an FYI, I'm moving this to help me fix it, where it belongs, but here's my answer.
Yep, you do take chain length into account. Get your chain and sprockets done by a proper mechanic and they will advise you on it.

Yes. Here's a calculator. However, many aftermarket chains come in common length sizes (100, 110, 120) and expect you to break the chain at the appropriate place.

See, the problem is that I bought the bike after it was done, and I'm not near the bike for the next 2 weeks, but I wanted to order the chain ahead of time so when I get back, I can throw it on.
Thanks for the help guys, I might be going +1 in the front and -1-2 in the rear for more road going abilities.
Also, can motorcycle chain be broken with a link press like chainsaw/bicycle chain is? Or is it much harder?

Did you go through the chain/sprocket selections on that site I directed you to? They'll tell you the stock size/length for your bike year/model, as well as sprocket change impacts. They also have the tools for sale for breaking/making links.
