Question About the Gorilla Cycle Alarm

Does anyone use the Gorilla Cycle Alarm? I'm ready to buy one but I saw 2 different models online and both cost $90 (MSRP: $99.95). Even the spec are simular... So I'm thinking one of this is a newer model, can you tell which one is? I don't think I can go wrong getting either of them but just wondering.

Likely just a different product number. The newer version is able to work with a remote.

I have it installed on my bike, and it gets me a small insurance discount. Haven't had any problems, and my bike hasn't been stolen so I'd recommend it. Also that price seems a bit steep. I think I got mine for like $70 from a cyclegear store.

you mean both of these are the new version right? because i think they both have remote... i'm actually suprise cyclegear gives such a good deal. perhaps just not the one in phoenix.

I read lots of review on this alarm, many said it will ran out in 2 years. I still like to get it coz it's so cheap compare with other highend ones.

Naw, what I mean is they also sell a remote pager unit that'll let you know if you're biker is being fucked with apart from the remote control. This is the one that only the newer version would work with though. Altogether it'd run like $200 which is getting into the scorpio territory.

Yea I've heard about them wearing out, haven't had any problems yet though. Installation is straightforward, I was able to attach it to the subframe under a side tail section piece on my bike (ex500).

HAHA, no one would steal an ex500 anyway... your best bet is to have theft insurance, or leave you bike in a locked garage (although that isn't exactly fool proof either!!!). Lo-Jack is a pretty good option as well but neither of those two options are cheap.

It's not just for the theft. I was at dinner one time and saw some punk kids hanging around outside of the restaurant. 15 mins later my Gorilla Alarm turned on and I ran out there they were just running away. Another time I was at work, some dude back off their truck and knocked off my bike. glad my co worker near the door heard the alarm and i caught that guy and he paid for my damage... There are many other important reasons of having an alarm, my friend.
