Thumbs down Katana alive after more than a year of sitting

Alright folks, i was asking before how to clean carburetors and other questions, well i did clean the carbs. It was rusty in the bowls on the bottom of the carbs i spray the crap out of it with carb fluid, removed all the o rings before so they dont get eaten by carbfluid. Now i didnt mark the fuel lines that connect to the fuel tank, i also replace 2 fuel lines with new ones. Yes me the new owner didnt mark the lines where they go. now the bike has been sitting for more than a ear by previous owner i bought it for only 550$$$$ yes 550$$$ he said that he dosnt whats up. I know it was just old fuel and carbs. Now my choke cable is broken but i can reach and choke it manually by hands.
Ok here comes the problem i c onnected 2 fuel lines back to the tank the tank has a 3 way connector which i took out and cleaned with the fuel filter it self. The bike started up with starter fluid but no matter what i did i dont smell any gas going to the carbs. i was thinking that i miss connected the lines the carburetor has 5 lines 2 that are the bigger fuel lines the other 2 are above the fuel lines some smaller ones and 1 on the side. i was wondering how to connect it because the bike runs only with starter fluid. i started it like 10 times if iam right with starter fluid, which is not that good for a bike sitting for more than a year it could run right or warm up at all. So please any help out there with some pics how to connect the fuel lines or any other suggestions.
My best bet is that its not getting fuel. also my bike is a 1995 suzuki katana 600. i downloaded after many hours of search the service manual for 1998 and up katans but its carburetors are different not as many lines plus there is absolutly no other service manuals online for downlad for 1995 trust me i did my research neaby some of u are more lucky, but anyways iam typing all this 12am because just finished puting together the bike and iam sleepy. So please any help i need his baby running thank ou so much i think my carbs are mikuni 32-or 34 mm carbs if iam right but the 1998 and up are different just a reminder thx again.

Anybody willing tohelp thank you

Have you tried turning the petcock to all the different positions? If i recall correctly, there are only two ways to hook up the lines, one is for reserve and one is for the normal fuel position. It should work either way.

But it's been a while since i had one of those bikes. And my manual is back home, which is NOT where I am.

I'll try and help you out when i get home later.

your petcock is vacuum operated, you should have 3 lines coming off the petcock, one is for vacuum (the smaller one), one is for the on position and one is for reserve.

the main line is the bigger one (obviosly) that goes to the center of your four carbs at a tee that feeds the center carbs then each center feeds the respected outer with another line.

there should be a smaller line that is the vacuum line coming off the carbs somwhere (cant remember on the kat) attach that to the smaller port on petcock.

and then reattach the third (reserve) to the carbs

and and it should run

hope this helps

The two bigger fittings on your fuel valve will be the feed lines to the carbs. The y will hook to a T fitting between the 1/2 and 3/4 carbs. I can't remember but I think the aft fitting went to the 1/2 carbs, and the fwd went to the 3/4. The smaller fitting off the rear of the valve is a vacuum line run to the #4 carb.
Now the other 2 hoses off the carbs should be breather hoses vented to fresh air. Or if the bike was a California model, to a purge valve/canister and vented to fresh air.
Then on the bottom of the gas tank you should have a vent line running to fresh air out the bottom of the fairing.

You might also want to change the plugs out. Kats a very picky about running on old plugs.

Try this for a Haynes manual.

well thanks people i hope that will help. Specially i never connected the vacum hose on to the the fuel valve, so neaby it didnt have any vacum presure to the tank and gad wouldnt get to the carbs. iam going to try to start it without starter fluid after i put the tank back and new clamps, and my air filter but want to make sure its running right before putting all together. remeber it hasnt been running for more than a year and it was outside in snow covered and snow storms, poor katana but its so solid i check it never been taken apart or anything its still in good shape. All i need to do is remove some surface rust and clean the bike. Also do i need to take off the carbs to change my transmision oil? What else would you people recomend for me to do so the bike is safe and reliable, i was thinking to replace the brake master cilinders and brake lines, by buying some used ones off ebay or some cheap stainless steel brake lines. Any suggestoins, i let you know in a day or 2 if the bike is running or not, i so hope its running. Then all i need is to insure it and register it thats it. Oh i hope evrything be fine,i as waiting on it to start so badly finnaly it did only with starter fluid tough.'
So any sugestions please feel free to reply.

Thanks a lot
