Default Output shaft spinning in neutral

Hi, i recently replaced the transmission on my 03 r6 after i ended up grinding several teeth off of 2nd gear.

I put everything back together, and now when its in neutral, the output shaft spins while the bike is idling. I dont have a sprocket installed or a chain. It is necessary to give the bike a little bit of throttle for it to idle, and when you do give it gas the speedometer goes up.

However, i can spin the output shaft with my fingers with a little effort, i dont feel the motor turning over, when i turn the drum and put it in gear, its impossible to spin.

I put the shift forks in the proper locations, and neutral is where its supposed to be according to the shift drum.

Also, for what its worth i dont think the clutch is properly installed, but that shouldnt be a problem if the bike is in neutral ?

Is a little spinning of the output shaft normal in neutral and i just need to put the sprocket and chain on, or have i screwed something up.

Any help or advice is appreciated.

friction is the ultimate cause. i noticed the same thing when running my bike on the stands (with a chain and rear wheel mounted). so yes, its normal.

now, the speedo....id check the speed sensor.....it sholdn't even register a speed below 5mph so it sounds a bit fishy....

and turn up the idle to 1300rpm.

Ditto. I noticed on my GPZ as well that the output shaft spins when I turn it over with no chain on it.

Yeah, once you get it all together, you should be able to hold the rear brake when your up on stands and it should stop. If it stalls, when in neutral, then you may have a problem.
