Bike wont Start

I own a 2002 ZX7R. I was traveling between Los Angeles and Santa Barbara (100 miles) and i pulled over to put gas and take a break. When i tried turning my bike on it wouldnt start. I sometimes have problems turning the bike on when its a hot day and i have had the bike for an hour or more. The Temp gauge is usually low. I usally leave the bike off and attempt to turn it on 20-30 minutes later and it will turn on the first press of the starter. The same thing happend this time. The bike wouldnt turn on so parked it went to get a burger, came back and it started up. Anybody have any ideas what i could possibly be?

are you referring to a crank but no start or a no crank condition? when this happens are there lights on or is the bike completely dead as if there was no battery in the bike?

The bike cranks and all the lights work.

i've experienced the EXACT same problem on mine. thought it was the carbs so i synced them, but didn't help.

then i replaced the battery, changed the fuel filter, and BAM! like magic, the problem disappeared. so i'd say start by getting a new battery.

I bought the bike used about 6 months ago, so who knows how long that battery has been in there. Im going to try to replace the battery to see how taht goes. Thanks for the tips guys.
