Default Cold Starting...

So it's been kinda cool in the mornings lately and when I go to start the bike, choke, on press the button, the bike turns over like once and then does nothing. This happens a couple times. I have to pulse the starter and eventually it'll start. Is this normal?

You mean it turns over once while you are holding the starter button and then it stops, or are you saying that you just tap the starter button and it only turns over once.

I'm not that stoopid I'll press and hold the starter and it only turns over once... I'll do this a few times and the same thing happens... If I press it fast it'll eventually catch and start, but it doesn't seem right.

OK, I was just making sure . I don't think it's normal though. You should be able to hold the starter button and it will turn over untill the battery gets too low (You will hear a fast clicking noise when the battery is dead).

Is there a puddle of oil or fuel under the bike or is the engine wet under the carbs? The condition you are describing can be caused by the carbs flooding while the bike sits over night. Basically, the cylinders are filling up with fuel and fuel will not compress so that is why it will only turn over a little at a time until the excess fuel is pushed out the exhaust valves.

Or you could just have dirty connections on the battery cables or the battery is getting weak. Charge the battery, take it to a battery store or auto parts place and have it tested. Clean the connections too.
