Default Neutral Jump

I'm kind of at a loss here. I'm not sure why, but this has happened a few times. When I shift into neutral, sometimes the bike will jump when I let the clutch out. It doesn't happen often, but it has happened more than once.

Can anyone think of any particular reason why it would do this?

It's not really in neutral. On one of my bikes (really old one, though) the neutral light wasn't 100% reliable. Sometimes it would light up and you were only on the verge of neutral. Maybe yours just actually jumps into neutral when you let the clutch out?

My MSF instructors said to not rely on the light, and always slowly let the clutch out when getting into neutral. I always do that now.

its an older bike and unless you are the first owner you don't know how it was treated so I would guess that your shift forks are bent or the pin that rides in the shift drum is worn.
