Default gsxr 600 gauge not working/on off?!!

Hello All,
Well Im a car guy but electronics and I have never matched up well.
Here is the deal My friend has a 02 gsxr 600,one I sold to him.
Everything was fine,he left to nyc so the bike was sitting there for quite some time, battery drained ,so the battery had to be sparked up.
As we turn the biek on the gauge doesnt work.
It will turn on than off on and than off,the rpms will go up,stay stuck,go around, reset, than off.
Than half way into driving itll work the mph, rpms etc; than itll go off and stay stuck.

Is a new gauge needed?
Is there a way to reset this?
Hopefully someone can help! thank you

Do the rest of the lights actually turn off at the cluster? Or is it just the tach that is acting up.

Pull the gauge set off and check the connection on the back of it. If everything is nominal there, you can try the reset procedure.

well im not near the bike rigt now.
But

its the rpm tach and the mph digital guage.

The gas light lights up sometimes, the netr. /trn signal/high beam lights work fine.

The factory reset procedure is only for the stepper motor on the tachometer. The rest of the guages and instruments are all part of the circuit board.

Check the wiring. If it is good, then think about replacing the gauge cluster.

the battery did have to be jump started.
Would it be possible if the tach was removed than placed back on it could fix things? either way its our next step,if not I guess a new gauge.
thanks

No, you can't fix the tachometer like that.
