detourbeach SBN Rookie Join Date: Aug 2005 Location: newport beach Age: 31 Posts: 24 Gameroom cash: $250 Sportbike: 1989 yamaha fzr600	Front sprocket is tack welded! I just bought a 89 fzr600 and took off the sprocket cover to inspect an oil leak. Someone tack welded the sprocket nut on in two places! Why would someone do such a thing? I've never seen this before? How the hell am I ever going to remove the front sprocket??

Usually the sprocket is welded to the key collar which is bolted to the shaft. There are usually a couple or three tack welds on this joint. __________________ -- Jim
